Not cheated in UKC

In a UKC hunt I drew a gentleman by the name of ,Jeff Koons.and J R Barns . They were trailing in deep ,the hunt was running out, I was asked if I could hear my dog? I answered NO. One minute to go in the hunt. Both gentlemen said my dog was treed. I treed her,and won the cast. She had a coon. These gentlemen are not WIN AT ANY COST GUYS. These are honest competition hunters. W e need more of. Bob Price

Good Job to them....that is true sportmanship...I have been it that situation before, where I told a Vet coonhunter "had been listing to his aids ringing all night" that his dog was treed...was'nt benifiting me or screwing me up at all cause my dog was still running a track, the other direction...niether one of us one, but it was the first time he took this pup out...she did'nt work all night until then...but she had the coon...so he was just as happy.

If you treed her without hearing her , and they let you , I'd say all three were cheating.

If they'd treed their dog without hearing it , and was going to win the cast , would it have been cheating then?

Answer this for me someone. At a hunt i was at someone told me i cant get minus points if my dog is treed at the end of the hunt, but i dont think thats right cuz you HAVE to score the tree and if you can get plus you should have to get minus if need be? thanks.

Put this in your pipe and smoke it.

I have been beat after a hunt was over before. Yep its true, and heres how it happened.

Fact is this hunt happened about 15 years ago. So I dont remember the exacts on stuff but I still know the round abouts.

OK last drop Im up by 75 maybe a 100 with less than 10 mins to go. It takes a couple mins after we cut them for a dog to open. Its a guy that is some 200 behind so Im sitting pretty, lets call him dog A. Next two dogs open at the same time but one handler is quicker on the call. So dog A is in for 100, dog B for 75, and dog C for 50. Im dog D and I havent heard a peep.
With only a min or so left. A friggin airplane comes over, man that sucker is loud. You ever been out on a cold night and a certain type of jet comes over? Seems like you can hear them for 10 mins. Well this was one of those jets.
Im counting the last 45secs down and at 20 secs or so dog B's handler trees him. I cant hear sh!t for that d*mn jet so I tell him he cant hear his dog. The guy points in the direction that the dogs were last heard and says my dog is treed down that creek bottom.
I ask if anyone else can hear this dog. One guy was with me and says he cant hear sh!t but the other guy said he thought he did hear a locate.
Well I figure alright smart azz your just trying to pull a rabbit our of you butt so I put him on the card. Now mind you you can still hear this Jet. The handler for dog B says well the hunt is over we may as well head that way.
I tell him I agree but first I want to start the 2 mins on him. I start the time and we head down this bottom. Truth is as soon as the jet noise was gone we heard dogs. Man they were blowing the friggin top out of this tree. Dog A was by far the loudest dog, and man he was there. I asked the handler of dog A if he heard his dog.
Nope was his answer.
I know same as everyone on this board knows what happened. The handler for dog B figure what the heck. Im beat if I dont do something. So he treed his dog before the hunt ran out, while the roar of the jet covered his butt.
Now it was over a min AFTER the hunt was over before we heard these dogs. So you could say I was doing my best to wipeout what this guy had done, but to no avail. So that you see, is how you get beat after a hunt is over.

In noway do I hate the player, but man from time to time I do hate the game.

This is very much a true story. Since then I have became pretty good friends with the guy that won. I can give you his number.

BOO, I have talked to Jeff Koons several times. He is one top notch guy in my book also. The year I helped Joe out with WildMan in the Purina race. Jeff was the first to come up and congradulate us on the win and to me that says alot about someone. Glad you had a great hunt. It's always good when you don't have someone bashing every word you say or do. Take care

This past year at the MN State Hunt held at my local club, Preston MN I had the best time I've ever had in a hunt. The last 2 hunts I had been in had been 2 of my least favorite.
I was guide hunting opens handling a nice walker female owned by a buddy of mine. I drew Clifford Loy from IL handling Phil Kruegal's Slugger dog, Shane Holst hunting his Viper dog, and Mark? of Owatonna? hunting a blue dog. Dan "Coonfeeder" Kronebush was the non hunting judge just because I carried the card on Friday night and cost my dog a win dealing w/ the **** card.
We had a great hunt. Dogs all looked decent or at least about even, handlers were all sportsmen and not afraid to joke and jab at another. At the end of the night we realized we had made a few mistakes and cost dogs some points but during the hunt the whole cast was in complete agreement on the calls. My light had even burned down and the cast even helped me score one of my dogs tree. I didn't expect that.
I didn't win my cast but the dogs all earned they're feed that night and I had a great time. I think we all did.
I just thought maybe we should share a story of our good hunts since we all hear about the bad hunts.
I could always tell the tale of the last 2 hunts w/ the Great Horse Race or the Red dog in the Barbwire fence incident.LOL!!

Trust me they are both funny as heck! Have you ever seen a blue dog run a pasture full of horses within the 1st 8 minutes of a hunt! LOL!
Or had the hour get a dog, and the owner kept complaining that the dog must be stuck in a fence! The only fence in the woods was about 3 strands of barbwire that was knocked down where I saw it, that woods hadn't held livestock in years! All I could say is where is the dog...I'll go get him, if he is stuck in a fence he should be easy to catch! LOL! I never want to see a dog go out of a hunt because the hour gets him but man these people were something else. I could have scratched him on 2 occasions before this drop and I should have so the guys that brought "coondogs' could have had a better hunt. The worst part was I guided them to a big timber w/ cornfield on the edge & no livestock across the road from the "Great Horse Race" scene to avoid any potential problems.

The worst part was I guided them to a big timber w/ cornfield on the edge & no livestock across the road from the "Great Horse Race" scene to avoid any potential problems.

lol i never heard of both stories but they are good ........ what is that guys name that me and shawn hunted with that night at the state hunt he was a very nice guy
