Real live coon...

... I have to say the coon we trapped.... that had been slaughtering my chickens..... Had he been kept and used as a caged coon for training... would sure as heck have been a Real Live coon! That nasty smelly thing would have Eatten us!
What IS that supposed to mean???? I guess it is meaning that the Coon is Actually Seen? Not a Fake? not a couple of reflecters planted in a tree? Seen by ALL cast members... not some????
I think it was people being defensive from all the cheating posts??????
I would also like to see pix posted of people handling their Tame Coons.... I know some people who have raised them and "tamed them".... even than they are STILL wild animals and only Barely tame for the person who raised them. I would can them Tolerant... Not Tame!
Just my extremely Humble and beginner opinion... LOL
Heather

Other regestry...

...on it's coonhound page has something like...if I remember correctly...real live coon....wonder if there has been a problem with folks putting stuffed coons in tree to score on?!!?!?!?!?!
Reinventing the wheel is something all professions...avocations...and hobbies seem to get a kick out of nowdays.
If it was good enough for grandpaw....it can't fit in the modern world we live in....lets come up with a new catchy phrase and definition to match our modern times....
Flyswater...manual fly control apparatus
Water bowl...utilitarian single animal hydration unit
Kennel(pen)...Single dog containment enclosures
Dog Box...Mobile canine hauling unit
You get the idea.....
a buddy of mine always said some folks are.....EDUCATED WAY BEYOND THEIR INTELLIGENCE!!LMAO

Thats freakin priceless.........

I will never understand the difference between a 5 gallon bucket of corn and 150 acres of corn. You are still hunting them where they feed.

99.999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time when there is feed like that around, they stay up in a tree almost all night. Almost have to have a layup dog to tree one.

I don't think that people beleive "feeder coons" are tame. But they do beleive (and so do I) that feeder coons won't run as far as a normal, free-ranging coon. Reason being: After the dogs leave, the coon will return to the feeder to finish his meal, and the farther they run to leave, the farther they have to travel coming back. Sometimes the coon won't even leave the tree your feeder is hanging on.

Feeders are a good way to get young dogs started, but I think they can make older dogs lazy - after the dog learns where the feeders are. JMO

What about the coon who lives 1/2 mile away and leaves 2 hours before you get there?

A feeder might bring coons in to a certain spot , but it does not control what time they come in. Just like a small cornfield or a berry patch or a waterhole. They may come in the afternoon , or they might not come in till after midnight. You never know.

Well , I may have been stretching it a bit ! LOL

To me , anything over 12 months is a young dog , anything past it's second season , is either a cull or a coondog. No matter what the age ! LOL

HMM Interesting,

Here is the Idea,

If its in regards to feeders, The hound going out and finding a coon track to run, on land with no feeders or attractants for the Coon. Kind of Natural, brings out the hunting dog, part of a Coondog. I like it.
OR
Lead the hound up to a feeder bucket, let him go, he strikes a red hot track, goes fifty yards, and trees a Coon.
Not quite as sporting, but alot of fun also. LOL

What ever you guys decide, Im with ya, where should we meet up after dark?

I thought it meant trees with coons in them not nest, holes, or spider eyes.
