the best coon dogs i have ever had or seen would tree bear from time to time but that dont make them bear dogs or any less of a coondog they have to make a mistake before you can fix it just got in at 12.30 had a great race over a mile got it treed was a big boar in full rut he was swelled up hope he got his breeding out of the way last night bear and coon run together here is a pic from where i start my pups

I have been told this once before my uncle swears that if a coon dog wont tree a bear a few times that they aint worth havin idk where my problem lays cause iv treed them but i still dont have a coon dog to brag about i used to though the last 2 years of huntin have sucked for me I might tree a coon a month i got lucky a month or so ago and ran a few but i just dont understand whats going on we have taken people to hunt with us with what they say will tree coons and we get nothin set traps to see if i can trap one i get possums or a house cat Iv been about ran over by a coon going in the woods and iv about ran a few of them over around where i hunt if my gf wasnt so attached to the dogs we got then i believe i would be on the market for some new hounds but if it wasnt for my Black And Tan we wouldnt have Treed as many as we have this year last year we treed 2 or 3 that was it this year we have treed 5 or 6 with streak in that patch of woods and treed 5 in a patch of woods that i hardly ever do any good in with a 2 year old dog that has been hunted a few times this year i would say that is fair for him and next year may be one of the best one since he will be 3 and his bloodline hasnt earned any tittles till the age of 3 or thats what i was told from the breeder of him I was once told that you cant train an independent dog well they are right you cant they train themselfs and iv learned this only if i could learn how to keep them from going out so deep

it takes alot of time to make a good dog ALOT OF TIME if i was you and didnt want them to go so deep i would pick the best dog and hunt it by its self dogs are like teenage boys you mite have a good child but if you put 3 or 4 of them together one will go with the other doing good or bad that is just my opinion so take it as you want another thing that mite help out is to make you a feeder and put it out but dont kill the coons off of it when you tree them it keeps the coons around it and gives your pups or young dogs something to trail and tree and as long as you keep food in it they will stay around i dont like hunting feeders but they will help start young dogs by giveing you a hot track for your dogs to run thanks and good hunting

I hate a coondog that will tree a bear, ruins the night if they get deep in the mountains....One that same note our old female will get her a bear once or twice a year and I would just assume hunt her as anything in the Kennel. None of them are perfect, but if running a bear from time to time is all one does wrong I can live with that.
