Voting

A new poll just out says that 30% of American voters say that they approve of the way Biden is handling inflation and the price of gas. American voters also voted into office the idiots in Congress who are enacting the new policies proposed by Biden.

Should these idiots be allowed to even vote? It is obvious that they don't have a clue what is going on. Should there be some sort of basic IQ test that people have to pass before they can register to vote? Should everyone with a heartbeat have a vote? Through the years, the emphasis has been on getting more and more people registered to vote. The requirements to register have gone down and down. Isn't it time to rethink our total voting process? Where has giving every single citizen with a heart beat the ability to vote gotten us?

Or maybe anyone running for a political office should have to pass some sort of cognitive test.

Let's see if we can stop dead people from voting; then we can work on the stupid ones.

Oh my goodness. Now you want to take away the right for people to vote because the believe different than you. They like free money, hate Donald Trump and voted for who they wanted. People have a right to be different, both in actions and thoughts. Yeah, many might be "idiots" but many think the same of us. Not understanding why we can't stand him.
No different than doing away with the filibuster, 1 party could rule everything.
They know what is going on, now want to charge Trump with not formally announcing his run in 2024. They know what 70% of the people believe. A hard swallow to overcome.
But once you start to take away rights, anyone's constitutional rights, remember, you could be next. Your guns, free speech, voting...
IMO

Do you have the "right" to drive a car if you can't drive? Do you have the "right" to buy a firearm if you have murdered or robbed someone? Do you have the "right" to free speech if you are causing a riot?
I am not talking about differences of opinion. I am talking about idiots who have no idea what they are doing. Voting is a basic right. But anyone that exercises that right should have to know what they are doing. You should have to pass a test in order to get a voter registration license. We have to pass a test to get every other type of license. Voting is one of the most important things that Americans do but any brain dead idiot is allowed to vote.

Should people who don't pay taxes be able to vote on who pays taxes and how much they pay? Should people who don't pay any taxes have a say in where that tax money goes? I don't think that anyone believes in "taxes without representation". After all that is what our great country and system of government was founded on. But what about the opposite?

Our President's mental capacity can't be much higher than a 5 or 6 year old, doesn't seem fair not to let kindergartens on up vote

Yes, but an idiot is an idiot. When idiots that have no knowledge or economic sense are allowed to vote then we will have idiots running our country.

Thinking like that is why the USA is in the shape that it is today. If you can't read or write, how do you know what kind of person that you are voting for? If something isn't working, anyone with any sense would agree that it needs to be changed. With our current system, you have said that crooks and idiots are ending up getting elected. What would you suggest we do to make a change?

And if we don't want to take a vaccine, do we have the right to refuse it? Or are we causing a problem by not listening to the covid warriors? Are we considered mentally unstable?
You are EXACTLY comparing differences of opinions.. you are talking about 30% of 180 MILLION voters.. 48 Million? And yes, some crazed REPUBLICAN voters fall into the same category. So, you stand with everything the Republican are doing? Or is this YOUR OPINION... I believe it is, I believe you have rights, as well as I. If you believe not, then maybe I could say the same thing about someone putting something in their body that they don't even know what is in it, makes them incapable to make a voting decision, and enough people back me, you'd be out. But actually, I believe on your right. Even your argument for it. And yes, even that right, of people to vote, there is no idiot test. If there were, we more people would fail than not.

PS, yes you can loose your license to drive, yes, if you are a felon, you cannot buy a firearm, but you can buy a bow and arrow or muzzloader, but both of those are because of physical actions, ...and yes, you have free speech if you speak the truth, if you are inciting a riot, that is NOT FREE SPEECH, that is inciting a riot, leading a charge. Please know the difference. More of an opinion. If I go to UKC jail, so be it

My grandkids pay taxes when they purchase something. Illegals pay taxes at the pump and in the store. Near 50% of income tax paying Americans get that back and a high percentage of those extra $ back because of their low income and a therefore not paying income tax. Under your theory they shouldn't be allowed to vote. What about the stay at home mom? I myself fell into that category when my children were small. What about the many senior citizens living solely off SS that aren't paying income tax? What about the disabled that fall in the same category?
There should be only 3 qualifications for voting...
Be at least 18 years of age
Be a US citizen.
Have some sort of identification that proves your identity.

Well, I guess that our country will be in the same shape for years to come. We will continue to go downhill and complain about it but do nothing to change the system that got us in this mess. Did our founding fathers who set up our democratic government think that every single citizen should be allowed to vote? They didn't even think that women should be allowed to vote because they didn't understand politics.

I don't understand why y'all don't think that a person shouldn't have enough sense to know who or what they are voting for before they can vote. Can someone explain that to me? And something besides "it is your right". As I said, the men that wrote the constitution did not think that "everyone" had the "right" to vote.
Also it has nothing to do with any vaccination. I really don't know how some managed to slip that in. Y'all are like the Trump haters that always manage to slip Trump into everything.

Oh my goodness, I looked it up. The 15th amendment says that no citizen shall be denied or abridged the right to vote on the basis of race, color or previous condition of servitude. No where does it say anything about intelligence, knowledge or lack thereof.

I guess that means it is a CONSTITUTIONAL right, a right you'd like to see taken away. Shows how much you respect what made this country. The CONSTITUTION. Till it is your rights being taken away.

....Reading comprehension.... reread the Constitution. Nowhere does it say that every citizen has the "right" to vote. As I already said.... the men that wrote the Constitution did not say anything about every citizen having the right to vote nor did they think that every citizen should have the right to vote. As a matter of fact the Constitution actually gives each state the authority to decide who can vote or not vote.

Your voting right is just like the right to bear arms. "Everyone" can not possess every firearm. A convicted felon cannot possess a fully automatic rifle. A convicted felon can not vote. If any state wanted to pass a law that everyone had to pass an intelligence test in order to get a voter registration card, there is nothing in the Constitution to prevent them.

Yall can say that you think that every citizen should have the right to vote. Anyone can voice their opinion but you can't say that the constitution gives every citizen the right to vote.

History... in the beginning actually very few citizens were allowed to vote, mostly white conservative property owners.. As time went by liberal progressives kept changing the laws to allow more liberal progressives to vote hence increasing their chance to get elected. Now, where has that gotten us?

The liberal progressives have gotten the qualifications on voting down to only 3 things now: citizen, over 18 and not convicted of a felony. They are working on the citizen and not convicted of a felony now. In New York City they have succeeded in dropping the citizen qualification and in Florida they came real close to dropping the convicted felon qualification. Apparantly liberal progressives think that illegal immigrants and crooks will vote for them.

Hey, so... who gets to write questions for this "idiot" test? And what qualities them? I am so tired of my way is right. Enough anti-Vaxxers on the panel and guess what? You want 48 MILLION people removed of their rights because you disagree. Enough vegans and guess what. Enough anti-gun and guess what.
Where do you... YOU, draw the line? "My family are Democrats, so am I"... ooops, they aren't competent, "he put something on his body that they won't disclose what's in it"... they're not competent, "he owns a gun".. they are potentially dangerous, they're not competent. Are you gonna pick the panel, the questions, and who takes the test?
Do you remove guns from an older person because his mind might not be as sharp, or because of the way they VOTE? ... because of your right to argue, does not give you the right to think you are always right. Someday, you'll be there, we all will be old... keep talking about taking a person's rights..
