Registering a puppy
I am in the process of registering my 9 month old puppy. I sent in the registration form in October, wanting to show him this weekend. I received a letter back asking for a note from his breeder that she wasn't going to register the litter. I sent that in and just received a request for 3 photos of the puppy. When I looked at the registration form on the website, it shows it changed sometime in October, but it was not the form I sent in. I called and was told that since the litter wasn't registered, they needed proof that the puppy was to breed standard.
I sent in his AKC registration and pedigree, so I don't understand why UKC thinks he isn't registerable. Are the breed standards that different from AKC to UKC? Since he is the only one in the litter doing UKC events, it seemed much easier to send in the single registration, rather than the litter.
I have been registering my dogs with UKC for 12 years now and this whole mess really throws me for a loop! It is as if I was asking for an ILP number. I wanted to show him this weekend, but now I doubt I'll have a number!
