Squirrels

Danged Mark, That must be one fine little squirrel dog. I bet that was a blast. Were those two squirrels in the bottom picture as big as the picture made them look?/ And what kind of squirrels were they anyway (cross bred) ???

I'm headed to see my knee surgeon tomorrow and get fitted for a knee brace and then if this good weather holds out, and the doc gives me the OK, Ole Thrasher and I are gonna start going to the timber at night. When I do, I will get some pics of him on here.

They are called fox squirrels. That is my buddies dog. We walked to 19 trees and shot 16 squirrels.

Yes Rocky that is Edisto Swamp BOSS and he is out of Dan. He placed 20th on on Friday night and 18th on Saturday night.

Congrats to all involved for your placement at the Grand American. That Boss hound is going to make some noise before his competition days get behind him. Great Job Guys!!!

Hey Mark, I took my Thrasher pup to the woods last Friday night for his 1st trip. Cold, ground frozen, moon was full. We made two drops. 1st drop pup takes off with Holly goes 285 yards, about the time she strikes he comes back. Holly trees in a den. 2nd drop, he gets with Holly right away, they roll in about 500 yards, Holly strikes a bad track, trails it another 800 yards or so, Garmin has them treed at .89 miles. Ole Thrasher was opening some while working that old bad track through there, but have no idea if he was working the track or barking at Holly, LOL. They trailed that track for 45 minutes to 1 hour before getting treed. Either way he was at that tree, when I drove around to them. Not bad for a 1st night to the woods!!!!

Don't think he will have any issues with going hunting,LOL!!

Oh forgot to tell you 2nd tree was a den as well, but it won't be long before I drop one down and let him get a fresh snoot full of coon scent. But probably is at least another week away as we got 5-6 inches of snow last night. This is our first snow this year but it brings everything to a stop till it warms back up.

Dang bubba!!!! I was sure hoping it wasn't gonna be that serious. That sucks I know but you could have gotten hurt worse I suppose. Just hang in there and don't rush things. Mark , the check will be in the mail tomorrow. Hunted Saturday, Monday, Tuesday , and Friday treed 9 and caught 1 on the ground Been to 1 tree that pretty sure didn't have 1 and made 2 or 3 dens......... One of the best weeks I've had in a while..... Her head is still sore from the 1 they caught and Ive knocked another 2 or 3 to her. Nice young dog. Thank you for giving me the chance to own her....

Hope your feeling a little better Mark. Danged it was 12 below zero here this morning. Hang in there , it is a slow process but it will get better. Ole Thrasher is ready to rock, so just waiting on this stuff to go away.

I just looked at our long range forecast and it looks like the weather is not going to be fit for coon hunting here until March 3,4,5.
