It feels like negligence on my part that it took until the 19th article for Timothy Ball’s name to pop up here. Timothy was not only one of the most influential people in coon hunting history, but definitely in the history of stud advertisement. And for most people the first hound that comes to mind from those ads is GRNITECH ‘PR’ Ball’s Stylish Hickory Nut Harry. A hound that is 3rd overall in number of pups produced within the Walker breed, and 4th in titled pups produced.

Harry was born in March of 1993 out of a litter of 9 pups. The 9 hounds in this litter accounted for over 3,500 pups produced and 506 titled pups with Harry pulling a large majority of the weight. His first litter hit the ground when he was just over a year old in June of 1994. That first litter out of ‘PR’ O’Neal’s Log Chain Jean produced his first two titled pups, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Ripper and NITECH CH ‘PR’ Gregg’s Stylish Queen. After that, he proceeded to have 400+ litters hit the ground over the next 27 years. When you have so many pups, litters, and titled hounds produced, I have to be really selective on which ones get highlighted here. For some of these top Walker studs, this could easily be a three-page essay. Let’s take a look at some of Harry’s most productive litters.

It did not take long for Harry to start making his mark in the stud pen. The mid 90s was a very productive time for dogs out of him. In May of 1995 a litter out of NITECH ‘PR’ Green’s Patty produced 4 titled dogs out of 7 pups, NITECH ‘PR’ Golden Boy, GRNITECH CH ‘PR’ Stephens and Green’s Stylish Ball, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Snoddys Stylish Spud, and GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Greens’ Anna. Then 2 months later in July of 1995, an 8-pup litter out of GRNITECH Lost Lake Lizzie hit the ground with 4 of them titling out, NITECH Lost Lake Stylish Nick, GRNITECH Stylish Jesse, GRCH NITECH Lost Lake Jack, and GRNITECH Rod’s Winchester. In June of 1996 GRCH ‘PR’ Swamp Ga. Hooker dropped 9 Harry pups with 4 of them titling, NITECH ‘PR’ Clark’s Stylish Jack, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Stylish Fever, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Red River Shilo, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Rice’s Stylish Sally. Then in December of 1997 ‘PR’ Blair’s Tar Heel Jill had 8 pups with 5 of them titling out, NITECH ‘PR’ Pretty Boy Harry, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Jill, NITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Six Pak, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Union Hill Sting, and NITECH ‘PR’ County Line Sis.

The late 90s brought more of the same. In April of 1998 GRNITECH ‘PR’ Adreon’s Iowa Roxie had an 8-pup litter with 5 titled pups, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Hood’s Little Awesome Annie, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Cheek’s Stylish Alice, CH NITECH ‘PR’ Bergman’s Iowa Heidi, NITECH ‘PR’ Burton’s Highspeed Ben, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ McCombs’ Iowa Stylish Cue-Ball. In June of 1998 Harry and T.J. Penny had a litter of 6 pups with 4 titled dogs, NITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Katie, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Pipe Creek Millium Lou, NITECH ‘PR’ Barrett’s Silver Hill Zena, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Edinger’s Stylish Harry. In October of 1998 GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Night Heat Abby had 11 Harry pups with 7 of them titling, CH ‘PR’ Thomas Stylish Hickory Nut Dan, NITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Stylish Lou, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Spears Highland Stylish Famous, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Deshazo’s Stylish Holley, GRNITECH CH ‘PR’ Kenneys Night Heat Dixie, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Diamond T’s Fear This, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Night Heat Stylish Abby. Then in July of 1999 GRNITECH ‘PR’ Crooked Creek Misty had 11 pups with 4 of them titling, NITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Natural Gas, CH NITECH ‘PR’ Beard’s Stylish Magic, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Tina Turner, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Still’s Stylish Trixie.

Heading into the new millennium, Harry was still one of the hottest stud dogs in the world, churning out litter after litter. Like the 11-pup litter born in May of 2000 out of GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Huffs Nocturnal Rose where 7 dogs titled out, GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Hancock’s WV Sidewinder, NITECH ‘PR’ Rougks Stylish Fire, GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Zip Code, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Hollander’s Magnificent Meggie, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Beard’s Stylish Lady DI, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Patches, and GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Hickory Nut Rose. Or another litter that saw 7 titled dogs born in August of 2001 out of a familiar cross with GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Night Heat Abby. That litter of 9 included GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ DeShazo’s Stylish Sadie, GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Harry Jr, GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Gardner’s Stylish Little Evil, GRCH ‘PR’ Tensaw River High Tide, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Davis’ Stylish Harry’s Hammer, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Honey Creek Harry, and NITECH ‘PR’ Castle’s Stylish Sliding Clyde. Then fast forward to April of 2002 when GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Gardner’s River Rebel Vegas had 9 pups with 4 titling out, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ White Hills Mustang Sally, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Gauthier’s Summer Thunder, CH NITECH ‘PR’ Gardner’s Stylish Harry, and CH NITECH ‘PR’ White’s Hickory Nut Auger.

2003-2005 were really productive years for Harry, and it was hard to pick which litters to highlight. I was able to get it down to 6. The first was born in April of 2003 out of GRNITECH ‘PR’ Browns Little Peg. 4 of these 8 pups titled including GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Waccamaw River Tiny Timber, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harrys Dead Ringer, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Pierces Style, and NITECH ‘PR’ Hucjs Deepwater Last Chance. In June of 2003 GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Night Heat Trixie had an 8-pup litter with 6 titling, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Waltz’ Drama, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Kenney’s Night Heat Dot, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Why Not Dena, GRNITECH CH ‘PR’ DeShazo’s Miss Daisy, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Whyatt, and NITECH ‘PR’ Gatorland Stylish Stoneman. Another familiar female, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Browns Little Peg, had a litter in November of 2003 out of Harry with 9 pups, and 5 of them titling, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Calico Cloey, GRNITECH CH ‘PR’ Fishers Malden Branch Sally, NITECH ‘PR’ Ozark Stylish Scout, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Wildridge Fast Cash, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harry Bawls. In December 2003 GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Witch had a 6-pup litter out of Harry with 4 of them titling, NITECH ‘PR’ Bennetts Stylish Witch, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Stylish Witchcraft, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Witch’s Haint, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Witch’s Mojo. Then in July of 2004 GRNITECH ‘PR’ Water Oak Big Mable had a 7-pup litter with 4 of them titling, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Chase’s Electric Shock, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Judge Dredd, NITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Red Witch, and GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Scout. The final litter from that time frame came when Harry was 12 years old in March of 2005 out of GRNITECH ‘PR’ Browns Haley. This was an 8-pup litter and 4 of them earned titles, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Brown’s Taylor, GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Good Golly Miss Molly, NITECH CH ‘PR’ Backley’s Crazzy Kate, and CH NITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Hickory Nut Ball.

Semen collection and artificial insemination has lengthened Harry’s reproductive career significantly. He has had pups all the way up through 2021 at the time of this writing. Some of those semen litters were very successful. Like the litter born in November of 2010 out of GRNITECH ‘PR’ Twenty X. That was a 9-pup litter with 5 titling, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Nutcracker, NITECH ‘PR’ Bolden & White’s Insane Harry, NITECH ‘PR’ Dry Hollow Colt 45, NITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Harry’s Insane De X, and NITECH ‘PR’ Stylish Scrubs. Or the one born in December of 2010 out of GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Insane Wenty where 5 of the 7 pups titled out. Those 5 were NITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Smoky Mtn Sam, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Layman’s Hurricane Shane, NITECH ‘PR’ Water Oak Storm, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Slammin Sammi, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Twist of Fate. Then in January of 2011 GRNITECH ‘PR’ Simington Wild River Maggie had 10 Harry pups and 7 of them achieved titles, GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Smoky Mtn. Harry’s Harry, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Harry’s Wild River Rock, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Stylish Fancy HTX, CH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Mo Harry Love HTX, CH ‘PR’ Stylish Mojo Mocha, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Mo Harry This Time, and GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Wild Molly. Then GRCH GRNITECH ‘PR’ Insane Wenty had another Harry litter in July of 2011 with all 6 pups titling out. Those 6 were GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Insane Highway, NITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Insane Hurricane, GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Harry’s Stylish Raven, GRNITECH ‘PR’ Harry’s Glamerous Gabby, GRNITECH CH ‘PR’ Harry’s Stylish Hazel, and GRNITECH GRCH ‘PR’ Stewarts Outlaw Insane Susie.

I love reading Ball's articles lol! He was not afraid to brag on his dog and what a promoter he was!
My favorite cross has to be the Harry x Big Water Oak Mable (sister to X Jr and some would say better than the WC) this is the cross Mafia's daddy was produced from.

Ive heaed in the past that harry bred dogs were intense. Not for the hobby hunter. They were hard going and action packed. Anyone verify this?

I hunted many many nights with one of the pups off the TJ penny female, Edinger’s stylish Harry. He was a fun dog to hunt. I handled him from open registered to a grand all in a couple months time. He was owned by my friend Bob Edinger . Harry wasn’t a crazy hunting dog like we have today, but he hunted plenty good !

Love Stylish Harry! Everything in my kennel goes back to him.

Hunted a lot of nights with Tim and even got to see Harry go once and boy was he fast!

I also hunted at least once a week with the Rice's Stylish Sally dog for several years and she was a solid cooner!

My sted-dad owned The Deshazo Stylish Holley female and she was finished from Nite Champion to Grand Nite when he owned her. She was a very nice female that threw several nice pups when he bred her to Bawling Rebel (Harry's nephew).
