Just bought my first alpha brand new been charging for a hour and half still says 0% should I be worried or do they take a while to charge the first time

when i got my alpha the battery was dead, wouldn't even bring up the charging screen. it was no good and the manufacture date on the battery was less than a year old... could be a bad battery. Garmin sent me a new one in the mail.
