Heat???

So I have been training two pups about 9 months old turning coons loose and letting them trail them 50 to 100 yards most of the time and then they go to tree dogs do great no problems until last night it was in the 80’s at sunset turned the coon loose and he shot off like a rocket gave it 5 min got the dogs out the lite out after it only problem is they ran for almost an hour and by the time they treed they were about half dead and only really barked treed for 2-3 min then they both just kinda gave up and waited for me to get there they were really hot my question is is it to hot to run dogs in the south should I change diets or just wait for nights when it’s a bit cooler
And I’m curious cause regional qualifier is in mid august around here and how do u keep dogs from over heating
