Sportsmix dog food question

Just checking to see if anyone else has ran into this recently. I have fed the black and white bag for years with no issues or complaints but over the last several weeks my dogs stools have gonefrom firm tight stools to loose as heck. Another issue with my dogs is 3 have came up with severe tosil issues causing hoarsness and shaking heads when they bark. The vet gave antibiotics and allergy meds.I know of two other guys here local having same problems. This part might not be food related but beings it started about the same time as loose stools i thought maybe there is a chance it is related. If anyone else is experiencing these symptoms please let me know. I think i am changing feed to see if things improve. Thanks for reading

I feed it and know several that do, and no issues for us. I'd look into other reasons why, or if you think it's the food check how it's stored where you get it. A food issue is usually storage at dealer issue, no ingredient or maker related.

There are quite a few problems/organisms that will cause loose stools. If it persists you might want to get one of your dogs checked out. Just giving them antibiotics can cause loose stools.

TAKE THE DOG OFF FEED WITH GRAIN, CLEAN ITS EARS WITH LYSTERENE, 2 TO 3 CC DOWN EACH EAR CANAL AND MASSAGE FOR 2 OR 3 DAYS. YELLOW MUSTARD WILL TAKE CARE OF HORSENESS IF YOU DONT LET IT GO TO LONG.

I swapped to Valu-Pak because my dogs were having a few issues...others have had them as well...

I fed sportsmix blue bag for years and then swapped to the sportsmix black bag i liked it for my dogs...

I noticed my dogs were starting to lose weight and they were having runny stools...I increased feed by 25 percent to maintain weight on them...pups were pooping quite a bit...slowly transitioned to Valu-Pak black bag and I now feed less and dogs and pups look better...

I feed Blue bag (26/18) and dogs look great in it. It's chicken based, hard stools, great energy. Only loose stools have been in the woods, after treeing a while, but haven't seen a dog food that cures that

I fed blue bag for many years and it was a good dog food...then I swapped to black bag 24/20 and I was able to cut back on the feed...saved me some money by cutting back on amounts fed...I fed it for 6 or 7 years and it was acceptable...then I noticed I had to increase the feed to maintain weight which then caused loose stools and more of it...I been pleased with Valu-pal 28/20 in the black bag...

Feeding less usually means less waste to clean up and firmer stools...if these dog food companies think they can get away with changing a dog food to save money yet keep the prices up I would just as soon swap to TSC Retreiver brand for 10-12 dollars a bag less...

odd

Oddly enough, the last 2 sportmix black bags I have purchased have a new logo on the bag. Kind of an outdoors scene. I've fed one bad and presently have 3 dogs with very runny stools. I've never had a problem until now. Not sure if I have a tainted batch, if they've changed formulas, or what the heck but something I need to keep a close eye on since this thread came up.

You have to also look how your dealer stores it, how quick he gets it out his door. Piss poor handling has caused way more issues than ingredient changes or contamination at the mill.

Well, I know 15 people including myself that feed it, cause I sale it. Nobody has had a issue, and the mill hasn't had any complaints. My brother in law is manager at mill, and hunts, so I doubt he b.s. me or keep feeding it to his own dogs. Look in a semi sometime and see what all is hauled together to tsc, rural king etc. I go right to Evansville and get 2 pallets a month.

sportmix just had a recall on their dog food. after checking it was only the dog food made in Chickashay Ok.i have fed it for several years with no problems at all. all the sportmix I have bought was made in Evansville In. check your bags to see where it was made. aflatoxin in the corn was the problem.
