Rabbits ??

i have seen several types of rabbits for sale, why are the tennessee redback and san juan the most widely used for training? are there any other choices out there to buy?

Smokey Mountain Cottontails, Kentucky Blue Bellys are also good ones. They just seem to run the best out of them. Best one we ever had was a cross breed between a san juan and blue belly.

the reason this question even came about i hunt on private property that a man used a cotton tail and cross with something he bought, which produced very large and fast rabbits that have a lot of endurance when it comes to running, being from north carolina i have never had my dogs on a hare, first of all does a hare posses these traits and can they be bought to raise and cross with cotton tail?

Hares and cottontails can not inner breed since one is a rabbit and one is a hare. The San Juans are hares but they don't run 1/10th as good as a true wild hare. Actually best rabbit we ever had in our pen for endurance was a lip ear lol. It also is highly illegal to release San Juans or so on into the wild wheter you own the property or not.
