Dry hard corn fields and oak woods hills. Find a swam or were there is some water. We haven't had rain in some time up here. Were getting some nice track and putting coon up with the pups.

His age, time of year, my guess would be he is just fooling with older tracks he cant handle yet. What I do, and not saying this is right, i will give them what i deem is a reasonable amount of time per conditions, of course i want them to finish what they started, but nothing wrong with making them move out and finding something more productive. I am from the south and i can gauruntee you nothing throws the breaks on a scent trailing dog anymore than burned cut over. I have seen it in deer hounds, beagles, bear dogs, coon dogs. They will be moving a track flat out and just fade away to nothing in burnt over ground. So i always evalutate the conditions!
