tree / point

Anyone ever have luck using a cur that could tree coons well, and would also flush birds and bird hunt well ?

West Siberian Laika

I don't know about a cur hunting birds, but a West Siberian Laika will tree/flush/find birds from what I have learned from reading and talking with some other owners.

My WSL will tree squirrels and raccoon. I've not taken her into bird country to see if she will tree grouse. In Europe, they do hunt birds with WSL. It is a large north woods grouse.

I've seen videos of Russians using the WSL to retrieve ducks, so I am going to try to see if I can train a new put to retrieve. Certainly won't be as good as a Labrador I'm sure, but if it can find a wounded duck that would be fine.

Best of luck to you and have a great hunting season.

Most of mine do both as far as squirrels and coons. I don't bird hunt.
