There is also another cross in the works. It will be an All Top Reproducers List Cross that combines 2 top bloodlines.

Every dog in this pedigree except Storm has been on the UKC Top Reproducers List during their lifetime except for Storm and this is her first litter. But this is not a "paper" cross. There is a reason that these hounds were top Reproducers. They were/are all top Coonhounds. This is a coondog x coondog, winner x winner cross.

you bred two winners and the dogs back through their pedigree that brought them to the top you should produce more winners from that cross

Here you go, from 7 years ago. It is still pertinent today.

Showing your age Richard, you know the older you get the more you look back. It was a good post, I agree.

yes

for some reason I like to look at pedigrees and try to figure out how much inbreeding there is. The info in post gives insight on what the breeder was thinking

Breeding Red Dogs

I have yet to breed a real world class hound, but i'm still trying. I'm going to breed a female this weekend, out of Hutch's Big Walnut Boone and Nitech Steve-O's High Dollar Copper. Last time i had her checked last winter, the vet, said she did not have any eggs, i had bred her twice and did not get a pup. But i read a lot, the herb book, said Chaste Berry, a herb, might help. And i ain't sure she's in heat now, but i will try her with a dog, before i take her to a stud dog. I did use Chaste Berry, on a black female that was 5 year old and had never come in heat, two weeks later, she came in heat. I have had Little Ann , on Chaste Berry, for two months, so we will see. I didn't see much on the redbone section, and thought this should be replyed to, to bring it back, to life.

are there red flag traits that make you not want to make a cross?
can you have too much of good thing in the parents, that turns the offspring into a dud.

Cross's

I did raise , one dog, that placed in the top 20 of UKC'S, World hunt, he was a black&tan, Grnnitech Whitacker's Black Smokey III, and he's still today the most pressure proof tree dog, that i've ever had the pleasure, to hunt. I raised, a red bone litter out of Re-Pete, and Autumn, Pete was out of the second cross of Taylor's Guitar's Ghost and Treetalkin Red Hot Sister. Autumn, is a real nice coon tree-er, she's gettin old now, but some out of that litter made nice dogs, but i had one wobbler pup, i don't know where he got the bad stuff, but some butt hole around me killed 4 dogs for me, one of them was Bugle, he was out of Nocturnal Cooper, i really loved him, one was Re-Pete, one was Holly, i raised her on a bottle since she was 3 days old, and one was Henry, he was the Wobbler pup. I have since put up 8 camera's around the dogs, cost me around $330.00, and so far i ain't caught nobody, and i hope i don't.
