Thank You Larry. I am certainly heeding your advice and enjoying every night I can with her. As you already know, the good ones get old in a hurry.

Not sure if you know this, but half of the success of Holly's coon treeing ability can be attributed to the hard work You/Charlie, and John Ferrari put forth a few years back. Holly is off Gr.Nt.Ch. Adkins night Thunder and my stuff on the bottom side.

That being said, I need to thank you guys for giving me a shortcut to owning a pretty darn nice coondog. Overall Holly is my all-time favorite female, and I have owned a few over the years.

I am looking forward to going back down to Doug's and taking another hunt with LE. He looked like a pretty nice package the night I hunted with him.

Enjoy Your coon season, as we all know bad weather is just around the corner. Take Care!!

Dave haven't taken Huck again do to working long hours, but plan to get him back in the woods this weekend. I will try to remember the camera. Think he is gonna be real independant. I will keep you posted.

Barrett's Starr was directly off Billy Blue, who was a litter mate to Timber Star Buck. Barrett's Starr was also a grand pup to Gr.Nt.Ch. Oxleys Butch who was a son of Boyds Little Joe. Additionally Hooper Ridge Raw Dawg Rowdy was a Grand pup to Bates Screaming Deamon, and a Great Grand pup of Bates Blue Cash, and Parkers Rambling Sue.

As you can see, I loved all the Ladybird blood and Little Joe blood I could stack into a hound. Hope this is not too confusing but wanted to try and explain it all.

Thanks Doug, Man I hope you get to feeling better. I went through some of that 5/6 years ago and it was miserable to say the least.

Best of luck to you with that doctors appointment. We will go again when you get to feeling a little better. Training season is just around the corner LOL!! And I sure hope you get to enjoy it.

P.S. Most folks call training season during the summer but I seem to be much more effective at training when the leaves are off, and season is in. I know for sure if the coon is there or not and can then teach that young dog that they may have been a little quick to get wooded.

If calling my house phone its best to call me Tuesdays-Thursdays-anytime between 10:00 A.M. and 10:00 P.M. If calling on Mondays,Wednesdays, Fridays, its best to call my house phone between 10:00 A.M. Till 11:30 A.M. or From 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. I work 12:00 to 5:00 on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays so I'm not home at those times

Poundage Hunts

Yes, our 1st hunt will be November 17th. This is going to be a buddy poundage hunt. You will be allowed to weigh in up to two coons per night, (One for you and one for your partner).
We will hold one hunt on November 17th, I believe the second event will be December 8th, and the third and final contest will be (TENTATIVELY) scheduled for January 5th or 12th weather permitting. (I think) Your team will be able to weigh in up to a total of 6 coons, meaning two each monthly event.

We are giving away two DC-40 collars. The collars will not be awarded until after completion of the 3rd and final poundage hunt. We are gonna have a calcutta type jar whereas, an extra 5 dollars can be placed in the jar, (this is optional) and the team that catches the two biggest coons each month (that has paid into the jar for that month) will win the money that has been placed in the jar.

Signup is going to be from 5:30P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on the night of each event, The deadline to return to the clubhouse for weighing will be 1:00 A.M.

Thanks Doug, Yes he is a pretty big boy. He weighs about 70 Lbs in hunting shape. Only thing I see wrong with him is that he isn't blue LOL. Sometime he gets so happy to see me coming to the tree that he will wait till I get about 5 feet from the tree, then come running right at me, jump and hit me in the chest with his front feet, bounce off me and run back up on the side of the tree. That one trait has been handed down from his Daddy (Rocket), from his GrandDaddy Raw Dawg Rowdy, , and his Great Grand Daddy Tee Banging Buddy, who was born in 1978. So I'm used to these dogs doing that but it sometimes scares the crap out of some of my first time to the woods, coonhunters. LOL. Especially if I don't warn them about it before hand.

Report Card Time

Just curious how many of us kee a track log of each release during hunting season. I have compiled a list of what I have done to date and was hoping to hear from any/all of you that have kept records. Now I realize there is no way to substantiate these numbers, you will just have to take my word for it, but this is what I have comprised to date. And I wouldlove to see how you all are doing also.

I have hunted a total of 10nights since November 10th.
I have released my dogs a total of 37 times and have struck a track 37 times, so I have not yet dry holed myself LOL!!
I have looked at 29 coons in 26 different trees. (had 3 doubles)

Holly has been released 24 times
Holly has treed a coon on the outside on 16 of these 24 releases.
Holly has made 5 den trees
Holly has made 3 slick trees

Gun has been released 13 times
Gun has treed a coon on the outside on 10 of these 13 releases.
Gun has made 0 Den trees
Gun has made 3 Slick trees

Gun is 10/13
Holly is 16/24 not counting dens & 21/24 if you do count dens.
