Money Money Money

What’s it done to competition coon hunting? Or just coon hunting in general? It doesn’t appear to be helping in participation for $$KC. When that big pot first hit the scene it seemed to bring ‘em out, but as things got rolling on the largest purse in history, #’s have been on a decline. Why?

UKC is joining the fold for $$ at the world. Will that help? Was that pressure or hopes it’ll increase RQE participation since it’s on the other end of the map for 2019? Even if we see a record # of RQE entries, with added money, I’m torn on what it may continue to do for our sport. That, and social media, could be the death of us, I certainly hope not but it doesn’t appear to be helping much.

Rqe

We just had our rqe this past weekend and our number were almost cut in half. I think a lot of it was where the word hunt is located. Most from my club are not going to drive 15hrs to a hunt. And they also had the Alabama State the same weekend so that didn't help.

Money

That registry gave 32500 for first place with roughly 400 entries another registry gives away 30000 with over 1000 entries so the odds are better but the real number is a out 400 to 600 hunters in the USA will Compete for these types of hunts you figure 20 states with 20 to 30 hunters in each state

Also coonhunting is getting smaller and smaller every year ukcs. numbers will not increase because many hunters do t hunt for money and it will actually drive some off

Ok, so you’d agree big money is hurting the sport?

Money

Yes in some ways it does it does provide a dog market for good young dogs there was much more money in the dog business 25 yr ago than today but the big purses pretty much eliminates the average Joe hunter today and to be honest there is less interest today in most big winners because of so many hunts
