You cant use that as an excuse, they will be eating dog food by then. I drove down last night but only actually got to hunt about an hour. Wood and my buddies dog got across some water. I called Wood across but we spent the rest of the time trying to get her. Had to be home early enough to be to church this morning. Only treed 3 before it all went sideways. Some of the most beautiful woods I've ever walked through.

Nobody else to take care of them they are my last hoorah!! But got a lot going on family wise just can't swing it only got four days of vacation left and I save that for the enviormentel camp kids every year they come first tar is always in high demand for everybody but tar.

North unit opened last night and runs to end of Jan. South unit opens Dec 1st and you can hunt through the night of the 14th. It says the 15th but it ends at noon on the 15th.

about 10 years ago we were hunting 3 dogs and hunted from dark until after daylight and one night we made 21 or 22 trees and looked at 30 something coons in those trees. You can get into some very good hunting some years depending on the way it floods

Ten years ago there were a lot more coons. There aren't anywhere near those numbers now.

No there isn't, the flooding in the spring has killed off most of the kitten crop every year.

Just got back from hunting the N.Unit, Sat. night -opening night was just to many hunters in the woods, we still treed 6 to 8 coon then the next 2 nights everything settled down and you could tree as many coons as you could stand, if you have a seasoned hound. Hardwood Saul was averaging a coon about every 15 minutes but he covers allot of ground.
Pretty tough on pups if there are allot of hunters in there, to many distractions, and if your dogs have big ears i would say it would be miserable.
Also got to take a side by side and a 4 wheeler this year, will never go without them again, makes all the difference in the world!

Just got back from hunting two nights there. Absolutely the best coon hunting there is anywhere, in my opinion. It may not be as good as it used to be but it’s still MUCH better than anything I get to hunt around my house. Can’t wait to go back next year!!

We hunted Friday night and had a good time. We didn't tear them up but we had a good time. Went on some private land Saturday night with some friends and treed 5 in about an hour then came home.

I went here at my house last night and made a den and then had to sneak in behind 2 houses and catch them. Walked .6 mi to den and 900 yrds just to catch them off a cold track. I can't wait until next weekend.
