Question about winning.

Is it a unwritten rule about no smiling in your photo after winning a hunt? Some of these guys have one major hunts and look like their in the county pokey for a mug shot. Now i haven't won any competition hunt yet, but if I did I could imagine id be very happy.

It's gotten to where it is not that big of a deal to some of them. Which is okay.

I've been in a few photos, and you're right, I generally don't smile. Maybe it's because people wouldn't recognize me if I was smiling, I'm usually a curmudgeon around these dogs.

Game face I guess lol. I've been giving Cheyenne a hard time about this very thing for years as have several of his friends. When I look back at photos from his youth playing sports and then on into coaching the same face even if they've won a state championship. He saves his smiles for pics with the grandkids. Dalton on the other hand almost always smiles in his coonhunting pics.
Here's one that was on the cover of Cooner and in Bloodlines after Shack won Autumn Oaks.

You can look far and wide and out of all the pictures you may find you will not find the one smiling. For many it is like a their trademark gameface.

For me it's the fact that I haven't slept in days. I try and sleep in my truck on the grounds. But there is ALWAYS dogs that bark all nite long. Bout the time I finally do fall asleep the show people show up and make a racket slamming doors and such. We call them hunt hangovers at my house. It takes a couple days to feel better after a long weekend hunt.

Last winter before we took Red pleasure hunting. His pics in the woods hunting he's got a big grin. I've decided this serious face when posing with the dogs must have skipped a generation but is definitely hereditary!

He always tells us that is his smile. I bet he drove his momma crazy when he was a child at picture time!
I don't think most these guys even notice their lack of smiling for the camera because it doesn't matter when it's taken not just after a W I think it is in their subconscious.

Bobby Worthington, an outdoor writer and big buck magnet from east TN, is always asked why he never smiles in his kill pics...he'd simply reply "you have to be 'mad' to hunt as hard as I do..."

And most of these guys who have a job AND hunt/win that much, are way more dedicated than any deer hunter.
