Set out pines worth hunting?

With out kill season winding down in North Carolina, I'd like to save some coons in my usual spots on private land to train on during the spring and summer. The closest game land to my house is not ideal coon hunting land. Its right along the river but 95% of it is set out pines. Some too thick for a goat and some of it is tall thinned mature pines. Is this stuff worth hunting or would I be better off to stay home? I've treed coons in pine trees before but I've never hunted in set out or thinned pines. The ones I've treed have mostly been a freak thing or what appeared to be a coon crossing over from an oak tree. I'm back and forth on trying to hunt it and of course I know the best way to find out is go hunt it but kinda hate to burn a night of hunting when I've got good spots to hunt. In North Carolina we can't run on gameland after March 15th or somewhere along in there so I thought the last couple weeks of the season might be a good time to try. What does everyone think ? Worth trying tall set out pines along a river or a waste of time?

Is there water in the pines? If so it will have a few, it will be better when the birds are nesting.

Hunt the drainages, steams, and river bottom. I tree coons in the pine plantations all the time. They may be scattered but they are there. Any hardwood strips should be good.

Bout all the decent size tracts of land left around here are pines. Maybe some hardwoods runs here and there. I am not overly excited about it at all but I am slowly realizing if I want to continue hunting I am going to have to start at least trying to tree a coon in pines on public land.

Worst part about hunting pines is finding the coons. But after a little bit you'll get used it. Find them just like a leafed tree.
