Thermals

Is it okay to carry in hunts just not to use?

Yes

We had this come up and we took it back to moh in the friday night cast. As long as you dont use them or attempt to use them you can carry them on you in the hunt.

Do you think if someone was carrying it on them they had intentions on using it?

I never understood why you couldn’t use one to locate the coon and then turn on the headlamp to show it to the rest of the cast.

I agree 100% I wish they’d change the rule.

Which one are you using? Does it work well on hot nights?

Or you find coons you normally can't. At the pkc world hunt a few years ago I found several that normally we wouldn't have found. It works both ways though, it'll make you very humble at the same time because you will know within a few minutes if your dog is slick.

Have carried and used mine nearly every cast I’ve ever been in since I owned it. Never used it to “score” a tree but dang they sure help where to look closer at.

What brand are you using and what does it cost. I had always heard they didn't work in hot weather. Thanks.

They work you just have to know how to use them. If you cup your hand over the front it’s keeps the tree from being red and still finds the coon. But you pay for what you get

Mine is a flir, can’t remember the model # but it was around 2 grand. I’ve got a plastic cap with a hole drilled in the end. Works 100% better with that.
