We’re pretty excited about this cross of Rock x Sunni. Their hunting traits complement each other very well, as does their breeding. As you can see from the pedigree posted, we’re obviously linebreeding on Razor/Bruiser/Thunder/Hennings Chief/Ace/Timber Chopper…..but there’s actually quite a bit more Hennings Chief/Ace/Timber Chopper there that you don’t see. And there is a lot of GRNITECH Dawn’s Timber Jack & his mother NITECH Cane’s Spring Dawn rolling around in there too. Terry Goza’s Jake dog was double Cane Spring Dawn bred, Shiloh’s Red Autumn is double Timber Jack bred, and Sassafras Burning Breeze is double Timber Jack bred. From our own experience, and the experiences of those who’ve been doing this before us………Ace/Chief/Timber Chopper bred dogs x Timber Jack dogs = good stuff!

NITECH GRWCH GRCH Goza’s Sing Along Rock N Roll “Rock” started in the woods at 6 months of age and was a natural treedog. Rock is a 1st or 2nd strike, 1st tree, has a beautiful bawl mouth on track, easy to call die-bawl locate, and is a hard, belly up treedog. He has a win or two toward GRNITECH, and quite a few points toward FCH as well. He is from a dominant cross on our Rip male…..the NITECH GRFCH GRWCH GRCH Red Fever Razor’s Rip N Tear x NITECH CH Goza’s Sing Along Rose cross. There are several hunt titled dogs from that cross, and there could be a couple more if their owners choose to competition hunt them. We have a 2 year old female from Rock’s first litter here, WCH FCH GRCH Red Fever Baby Likes To Rock…..Baby ran and treed her first night to the woods at 8 months old, was a complete natural and is very balanced in all aspects. She has already proven to be tough in the FT, WR, and Shows, and we anticipate she will do very well in the hunts as well. Terry Goza has a pup from Rock’s second litter with our Quad Grand Dice, Goza’s Sing Along Diamond, who won Queen of Show at 2015 American Redbone Days as a 7 month old.

NITECH GRFCH WCH GRCH Red Fever Ain’t Going Down “Sunni” was running and treeing her second night to the woods at 10 months old, and was also a natural treedog. She is usually a 1st and 1st in competition, she has a smooth bawl on track, warble locate, and is a hard, classy treedog. She is a good looking dog, and has a number of ARCA Sectional Queen of Shows under her belt, as well as show wins from the WI State hunt & the Heartland Classic. Sunni is double NITECH Timber Shock bred, and you would be hard pressed to find a pedigree like hers. There was a post a while back on Timber Jack, and his original owner (ahallada) had this to say about Shock….

“He (GRNITECH Too The Maxx) and my Shock dog were the most natural coondogs I've ever trained. Shock was driving tracks and treeing his own coon at 5 months of age. He was all business and was naturally straight his entire life. He was a littermate to Nt.Ch. Craft's Outlaw Jack and a full brother to Gr.Nt.Ch. Keys Outlaw Moon, and Gr.Nt.Ch. Outlaw Timber Girl. He went to a buddy of mine at 2 years of age after I moved to Idaho. He was only put in a few hunts including Redbone Days where he won his cast the first two nights and was up for overall winner going into the final night. He was definitely GrNtCh. worthy as well.”

Congratulations Aubrey and Ann on a nice looking litter of pups. The bottom side of Sunni's pedigree is loaded with the last of my dogs in the 1990s. Ed Petschow bought a full littermate puppy to Moonlight Kate , from Brad Messersmith, he named Salines Ruby. She wasn't much to look at but she was about as hard and loud of a tree dog as you could want. She treed between 140-150 bpm.

We bred her to my Shock dog who was out of TJ x Jessie and produced Blaze. Shock was a natural track and tree dog from 5 months old. He literally trained himself. We never had to break him off trash and he was all business when you cut him loose everytime. He out hunted his mouth as he got older but of all the dogs Ed hunted for me, Shock was his favorite dog of all time. That says a lot since he hunted all my best dogs. I asked Ed what it was about Shock that he liked more than the other dogs and he said that he was all business and was a coon treeing machine. Everytime you cut him loose he was going to get treed somewhere and have a coon and he made it look easy. I only put Shock in one hunt and won 1st place at an RQE against some tough competition at 2 years of age. That was my last competition hunt before returning this year. Ed just pleasure hunted him for me when I moved out west. He was definitely one of my favorites and one of Bill Wallock's as well. He had that cold nose track driving ability that few dogs have today. He could move tracks like his brother Outlaw Moon that few dogs could smell. He didn't have the big mouth Moon had, but he treed more coon and could tree layup coon easily. He was a great looking dog and had one of the best personalities you could ask for.

Blaze was a split image of TJ with the big mouth and was a super loud hard tree dog. He was a really fast track dog too and well balanced. He was never competition hunted. He also had a littermate brother that was the real deal and was sold for good money and died at a little over a year of age after being run over by a train. This is some really good old blood in these dogs and I'm glad to see it still out there. If you are looking for the big mouth, track driving, stay put split tree dogs of the 90s, this pedigree has it. Good luck with this litter!

Thanks for giving the background on these dogs, Allen. It's always good to know not only what the sire & dam are and what they are throwing, but to know what kind of dogs were behind them. Every generation is important, and we believe we continue to see traits from those dogs that have been passed down. We've seen several pictures of TJ now, and have always said our Rip and his sons have the TJ tree style......they wrap their legs around the tree, pull their chest up to the tree, and pull down is I guess the best way to describe it. They also have the good cold nose that most other dogs can't smell, yet they run it well and in one direction, fast. They are very well balanced hounds, and we're thankful to have that good blood in our breeding program.

NITECH GRFCH GRWCH GRCH Red Fever Razor's Rip N Tear (double TJ bred and grandsire to these pups). Rip was an early starting, hard hunting, cold nose, independent, and extremely accurate. Probably the prettiest bawl mouth dog in our kennel, with a beautiful die-bawl locate with a whip at the end. Chop on tree.

Hey Aubrey ,
I just realized that Rock goes back to another really good cross out of Timber Jack. We bred my Gr.Ch.Nt.Ch. Squaw Mountain Goldie female to Timber Jack twice and out of the second litter was born this gorgeous big male that became known as Timber Jack's Racket. I kept Racket until he was 4 months old and was planning on keeping him for my own. A young kid from New York, Ed VanVranken, wouldnt stop calling me until I finally let him go to him. It was one of the best looking pups out of Timber Jack. He and his litter mates would blow the top out of my cat at 2 - 3 months of age and had big mouths.

His mom Goldie was out of a line bred cross made by Alton Cooper of Indiana. Her dad was Gr.Nt.Ch. Smokey Mountain Brandy and one of the best Redbones I've hunted with in the 80s. He was out of Gr.Nt.Ch. Smokey Mountain Dooley and Billy Stark's Red Rock female. Dooley was line bred Timber Chopper being out of Gr.Nt.Ch. Millers Valley Rocket and a Coffman's Joe female named Zora owned by the Coffman's. These were some of the best Redbones of that era. Goldie's mom was a Timber Chopper Jr. bred female that Alton Cooper owned. I bought Goldie at 2 years of age from Tim Whitaker with 3 wins toward Gr.Nt.Ch.

Goldie won some hunts at an early age including Indiana State Championship and Illinois State Championship and then Best of Show at Autumn Oaks. She was the best put together Redbone I've ever seen on the bench. She just had a pink nose that became an issue with the Redbone breeders after she won at Autumn Oaks. She produced about half pink nose dogs. There were 3 dogs from this cross of Goldie and TJ that died at an early age with 4 wins toward Gr.Nt.Ch.. It was one of my favorite crosses bringing together all the great Timber Chopper sons, Timber Scanning Radar, Coffmans Joe, Timber Chopper Jr. , Timber Chip.

Racket was an early starting dog and Ed would call me about once a month to tell me how he was progressing and what a good one he was making. He finished to Gr.Ch. early and had 4 wins to Gr.Nt.Ch. before he died. That's one I'd like to have back! The other full brother from the first cross was the Pinky dog owned by Jim Haas. Jim told me he was a world beater at a young age and had 4 wins to Gr.Nt.Ch. when he was killed. I can't say enough good about this cross that Racket was out of.

We are enjoying hearing all the history behind these dogs, Allen, and I’m sure others are too! Good stuff! Rock gets the Racket blood through our Rip N Tear. I’m pretty sure Ed VanVranken called Aubrey several years ago and had a lot of good things to say about the Racket and TJ breeding. Dan Rankin sure is fond of it too. We have talked with him pretty extensively about Rip……I know he just loved the Racket dog and I think he feels like Rip is a good representation of that line. Dan just finished his Rip pup to NITECH, and would like another, so we will have to see if we can get that done….the old boy is getting up there. Rip was from a good cross; I know there are at least 4 titled dogs from that breeding. Rip himself has been producing well, he is currently at 9%, and would be #4 on the Current Reproducers list if he could get to 100 pups. He has another 3 with at least a 1st place win, and I’m sure he’s not done. That’s with only approx. 10% of our pups even going to competition homes, most just go to hide hunters.

An interesting fact, Aubrey and I were looking at the stats tonight, and Rock’s mother, NITECH CH Goza’s Sing Along Wild Rose reproducing percentage is 19.35% with 6 titled pups. If she gets one more, she will be on the Historical Reproducer’s list. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I know of 4 more that can and should title, and she just had one die that was a placement away from NITECH.

Tater was an early starter, treeing coon at 5 months old, and split treeing from the old dogs at just 6 months old. He is a quick strike dog, hard hunter, runs with a beautiful bawl mouth on track, and has a long die-bawl locate, and chop on tree. He has a good nose, and can run a hot or cold track well. Tater is a UKC Grand Nite Champion, a UKC Grand Show Champion , and a UKC Grand Field Champion. Tater was the 2013 American Redbone Days Overall Hunt winner, following in the footsteps of his double Grandsire Razor, and Grand dam, Breeze.

Country Girl was also an early starter, running and treeing before she was a year old. She hunts hard, has an excellent nose, can really push a track, good lay-up dog, and SUPER hard treedog. She is dark red, has great feet and overall conformation. Country Girl is currently a Show Champion with 3 wins toward Grand, just lacks a few points to Field Champion, and also has quite a few points towards Water Champion. Country Girl is owned by Terry Goza, and he hopes to push her toward Quad Champion in 2016.

Rock x Sunni puppies are 8 weeks old and heading to their new homes. We have a few here that need to be picked-up/shipped yet, so I updated pictures on the website so owners can see how their pups are growing. http://redfeverredbones.tripod.com/id62.html Also, we had originally planned to keep 2 female pups from this litter, but we have decided that we only really need to keep one.....so there is a female pup available if anyone is interested......if not, we'll keep her around......she is put together very well, good acting, good color, good head, loud mouth. MaryAnn of Buckeye dog hauling will be coming shortly for 3 other pups from this litter and may be able to transport her if someone from a distance is interested in purchasing her.
