Just a simple question Ron is all I asked. Maybe I need to buy you a snickers bar and a Pepsi.

That sounds good. I needed something like that at Caseys in Stockton, after hearing ugly story how cast went. Blue did her best, but ya can't tree anything, if your stuck on leash.

Friday night was worse though. IN 50 years playing this game, i have never had a dog that never got put on card for tree points in 2 hr. hunt. Sure hope to guide back to Iowa next year, if UKC leaves the zones in Argyle. There has to be more dumber coon on this side of river than we got into last weekend on your side. Take care, Ron.

Anamosa hunt

Ran Gr kids over for activities last night. Madi showed Queen to another best of show female, which should complete her CH title on bench. Madi also put Ch. win on Anne.

Pups are doing fine. put up taller board, so they can't jump out of box, till this weather clears up. Trent sure did good job taking care of mom & brood, while she was out there. Thx again. Take care, Ron.

Looking for ride from Steve Kitchens, Legrange Ind. To Fall Roundup, then will have dog to go back up there. If you can help with this 2x transport, give me a call. I will be there Thurs. & other dog would be there for return trip all weekend. Both know how to haul, so will be no problem. Steve is in NE Ind., only 20 miles off I80. Thx. Take care, Ron.

Congrats Madison Schwoob

Madi & i took trip up to Arthur, Wisc. Sat. night, instead of hitting local ukc hunt because she wanted one more chance to get a CW & take lead in $KC youth standings for 2019 in Iowa. Early round didn't work out, as Bouska/Welchs' 2019 Iowa state leading Maggie won her cast. On late round, Madi/Anne picked up CW she was looking for, so should be 2019 $KC Iowa youth winner. Madi won $342 since May & could have had a lot more barring a bad call @ 1st Trader hunt & 2 losses because she lost on + tree pts. tie breaker rule @ Michigan Madness hunt last month. Thanks to all handlers that put up with her & helped her out on casts this summer. Take care, Ron.

Taking a break

For the next 2 weeks to do some pleasure hunting/fine tuning!! Anne needs to heal up, must of snag herself on fence last Sat.. Others need more exercise anyway, now that weather is cooling down.

Pups are doing great & so is Freak, but acts like she is getting "past ready" to have them off her. Eating good, so that should help taking pressure off her from sucking & help getting them weaned sooner. 4 Weeks old today.

Got a new 'power prospect' coming soon. More details later. Take care, Ron.

Beautiful out

Sure hope this nice weather sticks around for next weekend, except for rain. Will be there all weekend camping, so stop in for a visit, if you're going to be there. Will have several of the dogs listed on this site to look at, if you want to see what i've put back together this summer. Take care, Ron.

Elmo

Good to see you out & about at the hunt. Enjoyed hunting with Earl/Kandy both nights on Sr cast.. Hope you can get back to the woods someday.

Weaned pups today, so will be ready to go in few days, by Oct. 26th.

Had cast win for 6th place @ Roundup with ole Blue Thurs. night. 350+, treeing 1 coon by herself. Had 2 close losses with young Lil, but her better comp. hunting is ahead of her.

Headed to $KC Youth World with Madi/ Jo-ann in morning. Madi won Iowa youth leader- $342 & was 39th in nation. Also, 5th high earning youth for month of Sept.-$198.

Anne finished 15th in state race & 25th in breed race. Turned 8 yrs. old last month, So a couple litters of pups are in her future. Competition hunting for her is over, just pleasure hunting. Take care, Ron.

Thanks Tim

Yes, I've had great summer with grand kids running around to hunts. Can't put in 'leg work' like i used to, but that is what young legs are good for.

Also, have made several new friends buying/selling dogs this summer to replenish inventory in the kennel. We've got 5 new additions that i would be proud to have anyone hunt with. Or ck with Ryan Smith, by St.Louis to hunt with Dual Gr. Blue Chic Beauty, where she is for winter months to raise litter of pups & hit hunts. Steve Kitchen in Indiana is also putting finishing touches on Marley, GrNt. Bo Didley daughter, for next years competition season. Ck them out or stop in.

Madi had great time @ $KC youth World, but things just didn't fall her way to get cast wins needed for finals. Met several new friends to snap chat with in future, whatever that is!!! One young man from OK. had hunted with both new additions, Freak & Girl, that i have brought up from Chance Irving @ Broken Bow before they arrived here. Then, they drew out together on Sat. night open event!!!

Pups from Freak & GRNT Oakley are weaned & ready to go, so ck with Trent or myself about picking up your new additions. They are really nice, if i do say so myself. He will be picking his orders up this week, so should be @ Legrand by next weekend.

Cornbelt Championship next Fri./Sat. for anyone looking to come this way for hunt & pick up pup. Girl & Freak will both be in action for anyone that wants to see them go in competition type situation. May not win, but bet other competitors will have their hands full!! Just sayin!! Take care, Ron.

Great hunt

Gr. kids, Hunter/Madi, came over last night & we hooked up with Augie to take Baby Girl & LIL Bit Country for short hunt. 1st drop both struck, split up, then got back together in corn field to tree a double!!! Had to walk thru 50 yds. of corn to get to tree. 2nd drop both struck together, smoked a track in corn for 10 minutes, then treed right along gravel road. While Augie & Hunter were leashing dogs, Madi found coon while sitting on top of dogbox & could have shot it out from there. 3rd drop both struck together again, short hot track & BAM, treed again. Drove truck next to tree & found coon in a big oak tree. Time for me to take school kids home, but Augie made another drop with LIL & sent me video of her treed again with a coon shortly after i got home. Never walked 200 yds. all night & dogs treed 5 coon, so it made for very enjoyable night. Even got to see last 4 innings of World Series game. Take care, Ron.

update

Had a tough week to end with. Cub & i couldn't get anything going good Wed. night. Did tree one, made a brush pile & junk pile.

Thurs. night, Ryan Hayes & i hunted Shoe & Girl. shoe treed one close, then we put old girl away. Girl worked long cold track in rough country out >88, then brought it back to 701 yds. & dropped treed with the coon. Ryan looked like death warmed over by time he got back to truck, so we called it a night.

Fri. night was 1st night of Cornbelt Championship. Freak won her cast, so now has 4 cw to finish title out, after only being weaned 10 days. Had a dead cast Sat., so will have to wait a couple weeks for last chance to get degree this fall. She will turn 3 around Thanksgiving. All her pups are getting picked up now. Take care, Ron.

John, yes there is

That is what is keeping feel 'young' again. These gr. kids keep me looking forward to next hunt & keeping dogs tuned up. Plus, buddies Cub & Augie.

Trent has 1 nice female pup available @ Legrand for sale because of person backing out on taking it. Will be perf. paid & SS nom., $250.

Good luck everyone on coming season. Hope everyone & hounds make it thru safe. Give me a call, if you might want to hook up for hunt. Your place or mine, being retired makes my schedule pretty flexible. Take care, Ron.

More drop outs

If you don't plan on taking them, why say you will, when they are born!! WILL TAKE non-refundable deposits on ALL pups after this.
1 male, 2 females available. Call Trent 641-328-2193. Located @ Legrand, central Iowa. BD Sept. 2, weaned, had puppy shot @ 6 weeks, 3 wormings. Ready to go. Will be ready to start next summer by sweet corn time.

Trent & family have had blue dogs for 50 yrs., raising & training their own, since then. Oakley made UKC World finals in 2015, same year these pups Gr. mother, GRNTCH $KC CH Jo-ann made it thru zones.

Freak started early, treeing turn loose coon by herself @ 6 months old. Has 4 wins toward NT CH in limited hunts & won't turn 3 till end of Nov. Sire, GRNTCH Jack (GRNTCH Jet 10), now owned by Ron Taylor, made GrNtCh @ 14 months of age. Dam, GRNTCH $KC CH Jo-ann is one of last females from Boomer/Ruby cross That started early & has been a pressure tree dog forever.

Will make this offer on this litter, if you don't think they will turn out. $1000 cash to sell back to me for 1st pup in this litter to run & tree coon by itself on its own. Take care, Ron.

tough hunting

Things have gotten a little tough around here this week. Moon getting brighter again & lots of standing corn makes for some wild chases. Plus, harassing them all summer hasn't helped!!

Freak treed a quick one Sun night, the had 2 long races with Charley to put 1 in den & catch other in cornfield. Last night, made den, then 30 min race with Gritt before going in old house. Next spot, she ran track in corn 20 min. before putting in old road tube, while Gritt went 600 yds N, then W to tree 1. Last drop along picked corn, she took track out in pasture & treed a double. Bout time to find a couple acorns!!!

Girl looked good Mon night treeing 2 singles on outside, plus big den & also ran 2 into bluffs, but didn't have to contend with standing corn. Will see how she push them out tonight!!

Lil treed 2 big ones Mon night late , then 6 last night around standing corn in new spot we haven't hunted all summer. one of those was huge. Will see if brighter moon makes difference rest of week. Take care, Ron.

Hunts

Wed. night we were going to take 4 wheeler in big valleys to save walking, but weather change that. Temp in 20s, 20 mph wind & snow flurries falling, decided to just walk around a 10 acre patch of corn to see if they were even moving. To our surprise, we didn't even had time to skin some before dogs got treed again. Treed 11 in little more than hour, but only took 9 home to skin because 2 hung up in trees. never would have believed it in those conditions, but they must have been hungry before colder weather got here.

Thurs. night, Madi & i delivered a pup, then stopped @ $kc hunt. I won cast with Girl & had great hunt with Tom Brislawn/Warrior (littermate to Shack) & Aaron Crane/Pine. Treed 2 & caught 1 on ground, Girl 350+ won on tie breaker, Warrior 350+, Pine 325+, not bad for hour hunt. Even had big corn field race to end hunt & got it caught after time expired. All 3 dogs had bloody ears before we got there & coon moved on after catching dogs. Will take a couple days before i'll hunt Girl again, so ears can heal a bit. Taking tonight off, it's been a long week. Take care, Ron.

more hunts, then COLD

Sat. night went with friend that bought Cubs' females. Had tough night with coon wanting to run hard in standing corn. Daisy treed one, then cut Freak loose on way home & she treed one.

Sunday night hunted Girl with my nephew & his boys on their 1st coon hunt. After some laps in corn, she took him to a bluff. Then, picked up another track & treed it on outside. Moved to 2 other corn fields, but couldn't get one treed on outside with Freak. Finally moved to another patch & with snow coming down, had a nice race till Freak caught it & took care of it. Been that way for last 2 wks. since moon got bright.

Monday night it was 14 degrees out with 3" of fresh snow & moon still bright, but Madi wanted to hunt Freak @ $KC hunt, so we went to Baldwin. Won cast with circle pts., no minus, so congrats to her for hunting in those conditions. Take care, Ron.

Finally

It is warming up a little to melt snow. Thurs. night, only could get a couple bluff dens & hollow tree made. Nothing wanted to stay away from home. Girl & Freak ran the heck out of them in standing corn, but still never got a taste.

Last night was little better. Had nice running track to start night for 450 yds. to tree a nice big boar coon. Moon came up & things got frosty, so tracks got tougher. Put one in bluff, then moved. Freak took long track out about 700 yds., then came back towards us to 450 yds. to tree on big oak den. 2 other guys i talked to never did tree one on outside, so i guess our hunt wasn't all that bad.

Headed to last UKC hunt of year tonight, so hope to get last cast win for Freak to finish her degree. Still got a couple female pups ready to go from guys backing out. Take care, Ron.
