Need help with Alpha...

I just ordered an Alpha system for a pup that hunts way to far away from me. I intercepted him yesterday almost 2 miles away. How do I use this system to get him hunting closer? Do I tone him and if he doesn't come back give a shock and watch the screen to make sure he's heading my way? I'm clueless about the Alpha.

alpha

they are very usefull , but be very carefull you could over use and destroy the dog's will to hunt , use wisely , it is a good tool, i have had them for as long as they been out , i run bear , i have not used mine to bring them back , it can work , the user may need some training with alpha as well as the hound , good luck , always have fun - Jerry
