A dog can be minused for babbling anytime during the duration of a hunt, no time has changed that. It is the most misunderstood rule UKC has. Some judges are ready to minus if a dog is struck under the minute when in reality the time gone has zero to do with babbling.

my point is kinda of that many rules over the years has been changed for the better but it seems the babbling rule has not. Minute, 3minutes both just stink. Both have been tried and failed. Maybe some day we will realize 1st bark shouldn't be rewarded.

I'm personally in favor of across the board same for everyone strike points but at least here the tree is worth more than the strike. If they would implement the 25 points after 2 minutes on the tree would help too. It is a rule that UKC created and has used successfully in Super Slams.

The most misused rule in several KCs that I have seen is the garmin rule. they are good to have. But Dang things should remain in truck until hunt is eather over with or time out or someone withdraws there dog. PKC is the worst kc I have seen where its misused the most. jmo

I am NOT in favor of awarding all dogs in the cast the same amount of strike points. Many variable play into my position but maybe the most important for me is keeping/distinguishing hound traits from cur traits. Many on here are quick to look the other way for characteristics that were originally required by our founding fathers of competition coon hunting to be maintained in order for their dogs to STILL be considered hounds. Now many folks today are quick to remove some of these requirements to simply make it easier to win a competition hunt.

Awarding all dogs the same amount of strike points is like handing out participation points just for coming along. That sounds pathetic to me. I say man up, teach moral character, and teach young hunters why it is wrong to strike a dog that is babbling, or one that has not barked at all. Teach that same kid that anything worth doing, is worth doing RIGHT. You will gain more respect and character by appropriately dealing with a cheater, than you will by changing the rules so that the cheaters approach no longer has a bearing on the outcome.

Next thing you know, some will be advocating to eliminate strike points all together so they can run their cur traited hounds in the hunts and not have to fear being scratched for being silent.

OH No, That has already happened too. Just have not yet gotten UKC to buy into your way of thinking. HUMMM!!!

Where has the moral compass of hound breeding gone????

It has gone to the easiest way to win a cast, and not the standard by which a hound is required to tree a coon.

Just Sayin!!!!
