WELL IN WALKERS THE BLUE COLOR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE BREED STANDARD, BUT IT IS NOT LISTED UNDER THE ELIMINATING OR DISQUALIFYING FAULTS EITHER.

SO MY GUESS IS ITS ONE OF THOSE THINGS WHERE IF YOU WERE JUDGING AND IF YOU HAD TWO DOGS THAT WERE IDENTICAL ONE WITH BLACK EYES ONE WITH BLUE EYES BECAUSE THE DARK EYES ARE LISTED AS FAVORED THE BLACK EYED DOG WOULD WIN.

BUT AS FAR AS HUNTING GOES I DINT THINK IT MATTERS. I KNOW A DOG WITH ONE BLUE EYE AND ONE BLACK EYE SHOWS 2 COLORS IN THE HEADLIGHTS. LOL.

I would pick the blue eyed dog. Just cause I think they look cool and always heard those make nice dogs. Dont know if its true but I like different things.

had one in a litter out of Hardwood Henry. John Wick said it come out of Stylish Queen's background. The female that had it made a heck of a coon dog and her owner spoiled rotten.

I don't have Clover dogs.. But my male often throws a blue eyed pup out of each litter (his sire did also and his grandsire had a blue eye)

I was hoping to get a blue eyed or frosted eared pup out of my last litter.. But no such luck.. It was his only litter that I didn't get either or, or both..

I like them...

You can look it up. It has something to do with the gene that gives them their skin pigment. Notice that a lot of them with a blue eye will have a wide blaze or half of their face will be white.

I am fortunate and do not get blueyed pups out of my bloodlines. If I did get blue eyed pups, I would not use them in my breeding program. I feel the same way about pink noses but I currently have a very good pink nosed female that has treed me lots of coon. I know where the pink nose came from and I will breed away from the pink nose. The place where the pink nose came from did not have the ability I liked either, so I won't be losing anything.

Blue eyes are a reccesive gene.

Blue eye show red at night.

After lots of Studing both the Bluetick lines and English lines then crossing the Two It came up with a Double Recessive .. Mostly based on a 1958 Bluetick Hound "Mountain Music Blue" .. If I would have known before I made the Breeding that Mountain Music Blue Produce some Blue Eyes I may of Predicted the Outcome .. English lines thru Vanzants Sam to Mountain Music Blue X the Old Bluetick lines I used with many Generations with Mountain Music Blue..

And Frosty's Eyes have turned from Blue to ICE

One or two blue eyes are common in American Leopard Hound. I would probably not consider a pup in any other breed of hound though. I don't particularly like it in Leopards but it shows up often and sometimes it is linked to other faults.

I guess no breed of hound is as pure as the driven snow. If they were it would not show up. JMO.

I have a 9yr old half walker/half bluetick female who has blue eyes. Her eyes range from light to dark blue depending on her mood. She was a really good coonhound until she discovered bear. I retired her a few years back after the second night in a row she treed a bear. I just didn't like looking up at that bear. She has an almost monkey face on her. She's colored up like a blue english. I don't know her bluetick lines but she is Yadkin River and House's Lipper bred on the walker side.

Majestic tree, that hound has some really cool eyes. I like his coloring too.

The Wick book says it originated in the stylish queen dog, and that most of the ones he raised and trained turned out to be dandys.

Shane Taylor bred our my old Thunder's Wild Clyde female to his GRNITECH Taylor's Beaver Creek Rock, and she whelped a litter of 3 Treeing Walker pups that I raised here at the house. The pup in the pictures below is one of them. They all had alot of white on them, but he was definitely the whitest, & the only one that had blue eyes. I'll type the pup's 4-gen pedigree below so someone can guess where the white came from & where the blue eyes came from? lol

I have an older Registered Bluetick that has one Glass Eye.
It looks neat during the day, but at night that one eye is red when shined with a light.
I kind of like it though.
