A Good Squirrel Hunt

Jason Newkirk and I had a good squirrel hunt this afternoon. We harvested 3 squirrels, 2 fox, 1 gray, and should have had some others. The dogs did well.

We did run into a deer hunter who asked us if we had permission to hunt. We were on Jason's property and Jason could have given him a bad time. But, we try to get along with fellow hunters.

Sounds like you had a good hunt Dave. Its been slow here I might hunt a couple of hours and if lucky might make one tree. Lot of days and not even a bark. Don't see any squirrels either. Just can't figure it out. Keith

Keith, I believe it is when you hunt. If I go before noon or 1 PM, I have the same kind of hunts you describe. Afternoon, I have been really getting into them. Try changing times and let us know how it works.

I will have some harvesting squirrel video as soon as I can get some shooters to go with me.

Mini treed 4-5 today but I only brought in 2. No picture or video.

Dave, I took my male Smoke out thursday afternoon and it was a whole lot better hunt. Smoke made three trees and seen all three squirrels, but only got two of them. Thanks for letting me know about when the squirrels are running. Keith

Hi Brian, nice to here from you. We will have to get together and go squirrel hunting sometime. I wouldn't mind seeing your beagles go either. Talk to you later. Keith

If i don't run my squirrel dogs, I run the beagles. I got a new 3 year old AKC female I haven't tried yet. She is supposed to be fast.
I hoping hoping to try her tomorrow. With deer season in, I can't squirrel or coon hunt. So, it is going to be beagles.
