Will do Mr. Jack.

Earlier this week my son came and told me that Jimmy was outside barking like he was treed. It was about 10:00 pm. I shined my light out by him and he was standing up on his kennel treeing nice and facing east. The closest tree to the east was about 100' from his kennel. I shined my light and at the top of the tree sat a coon. Well 1/2 hour later I had to go out and take care of it as I could tell Jimmy was not going to give up. The wind was blowing out of the east and right towards his kennel so he was able to get a good whiff of it. The farmers have been planting crops the last couple of days so we have not been out since earlier this week. He normally does not make a lot of racket in the kennel so my son knew something was up.

Hunt

My old buddy Scott Shaw came over last night and we made a couple of drops with Ann and Jimmy. Jimmy is really starting to show excitement about hitting the woods and I sure like to see that. He always went hunting but is starting to turn it up a notch. The first drop they got struck and picked the track quite a bit until they move farther down the creek and turned it up a bit. They still did some picking but eventually Ann settled in on a tree her and Jimmy had checked before. Jimmy came in and we tied him. Scott found the coon pretty quick. Jimmy treed up pretty nice after we brought him on the tree. We moved and the next drop we cut into a couple of patches that run together with a pond in the first patch. They worked the edge of the pond and Jimmy was really making a racket for awhile. They ended up in a hole and we called it a night.

hunt

Thanks for taking me Scott. It was sure nice to get out in the woods at night again as it's been a couple a years. We didn't hit very good tracks but still nice to listen to the dogs work and to see a coon in a tree we were not to sure we would see one in. Always nice shooting the bull too. Hope I can get there some more.
