them ticks can really screw a person up. For some reason we have had an over abundance of the pests this year down here too. I guess that's Trumps fault too. lol

My hunting buddy had tick fever 15 or 20 years ago and it still flares up occasionally.

I’ve hunted for 25 yrs and i was at the place in my life where I was having have to make my self go . When it gets like that something is very wrong . I sold everything to Johnny Dalton and now catching up with my family time that I’ve missed out on . I was the type of guy that didn’t have a bunch of dogs usually just 1 or 2 . I agree with you they need to be hunted . I don’t believe in letting a dog sit in the pen and not get hunted . . Good luck Joey

I tried catching up with my family time. My family told me that I needed to go back to hunting.

Coon hunting is a family thing.
I have several friends that had Lyme's, they have times they don't feel like doing anything.

I would hate having to find something to take the place of hunting w/my dogs. I've invested countless hours on here reading about coon hunting, and countless on other sites reading about coon/squirrel hunting. Like many of you I've spent countless days and nights in the woods following dogs and enjoying the camaraderie of struggling through the wilderness with them at night. I think about the emotions of training young dogs and watching old dogs die. What in the world could come close to comparing to all that? Coin/stamp collecting, gardening, etc.. I don't think so.

I am always ready to go in the mornings. It is when the sun goes down that I have a problem. Is that what they call "Sundowners" disease?

Want to trade? My snow for your rain! Knee high snow puts a damper on coonhunting. Lol. Dave

Hope you get feeling well soon, Roy.
My friend called me today. She hasn't felt well since summer. Was talking about selling her horse, tack, trailer, etc. She kept going to her Dr and getting different diagnosis. Cold, bronchitis, something wrong with her heart and after a trip to the ER, anxiety and depression. I told her she had Lyme's. She called me as soon as she got home from an infectious disease specialist to tell me she had Lyme's. She never found a tick or had a bull's eye rash.
Chuck and I've both had rashes, but didn't have Lyme's. I thought my first Parkinson's symptoms were Lyme's, but; unfortunately, they weren't.

Do what me and my buddy do, we hunt 2 dogs one at a time we turn lose if the dog gets deep or into country that is hard for him to make it to the dog. I go get the dog and if possible he will bring the truck around closer to where he can make it to the tree or pick me up. We hunt like this every time we go.

I talked to a 78 year old man who still hunts. He said if can get close to the tree on his ATV, he'll shine the tree. If he can't get close, he tones them in and goes home.

My hunting buddy is 81 and he still makes every tree the dogs tree, hunting in these steep mountains. He is the hardest coonhunter I have ever seen bar none. Lol. Dave

X2, Dave

One of my hunting buddies passed this year. When he was in early 80's a few years ago, he still went to trees. We squirrel hunted too with my laika in day. She would walk your guts out. He was without a doubt, the toughest hunter I ever seen and was a legend to me. He thought I was tough, I couldn't hold a candle to him, though. I miss my friend alot but am glad for him. He's with our father, now. Good hunting to ya!
