Is Covid 19 "under control" when the number of daily cases is dropping or when despite the number of cases rising, the number of daily deaths and critical cases is dropping?

Or is the pandemic "under control" when a big majority of Americans have returned to mostly normal lives.

Nick Saban tested positive for Covid on Wednesday. Tonight he is coaching football in a stadium alongside his team. He will wear a mask, though. No one in the whole state of Alabama whether Democrat or Republican has said a word about him being there or that he should coach "virtual" only 3 days after testing positive. I guess that in Alabama, football and Nick Saban are more important than Covid or the Presidency.

Wisconsin has seen 1,574 total COVID-19 deaths. Of Wisconsinites who have tested positive for coronavirus, 0.9% have died.

As of Wednesday, Oct. 13, DHS reports that all Northeast Wisconsin counties are seeing very high COVID-19 activity levels.

I wonder why Biden keeps talking about the daily number of New Carona Virus cases going up nationwide but he doesn't say a word about the daily number of deaths slowly coming down. There is very little that President Trump can do about the number of new cases going up but there is something that he can do and is doing about treatments.

the govenor is trying to make it mandatory that bar and eating establishments can only have 25 percent capacity. We already have a mask mandate , required in public. The wisconsin tavern association is fighting the 25 percent capacity law. The tavern owners lost the first round and are filing an appeal. They say 25 percent is not enough to pay the bills. I definitely see their point but wisconsin is one of the worst states in the US . They starting setting up field hospitals to take care of the hospital overflow. The govenor is also saying that trump should have rules that all states have to abide by. People do travel from state to state. We get alot of illinois people here , and other people fishing and vacationing in wisoconsin.

It sounds like the Gov is trying to blame "his" problems on President Trump. It also sounds like the majority of people in Wisconsin aren't as scared of Covid as you are. Wisconsin ranks way down toward the bottom of the state's in # of deaths so they aren't actually "one of the worst".

What do you mean "starting to set up field hospitals"? They built one at State Fair Park in West Allis in late spring, (and I could be wrong on this, but it seems to me another at the Dane County Coliseum). And it's/they've never been used. IMO, it probably isn't needed, but they have to use it now to keep the narrative going on how over run the hospitals are because everyone is getting this version of the cold. Being proactive, I got tested recently, ( my wife was exposed at work and tested negative) and told, negative test results would be emailed and positives called. Needless to say, I was extremely surprised when I received a phone call withe negative results. I asked why the phone call, and was told they can't keep with up emailing all the negative results to people, so they started calling people. That sure flies in the face of what local and national media is telling us.

Oh my goodness, I saw where the main stream media finally reported on the tv today that the nationwide Covid 19 death rate was dropping. They must be getting their news from this forum.

Of course they led into it with "Brazilian volunteer in Covid vaccine trial dies". Why couldn't they say that, "despite all of the worldwide volunteers, only one has died and it is unclear if it was related to the vaccine". If the death wasn't related to the vaccine trial, we won't hear another word about it. But if it is related to the vaccine, They will continue to report it for weeks.

A new study has found that the death rate for patients hospitalized with Covid 19 was 25% at the beginning of the pandemic. It has now fallen to 8%. Now that is quite a drop even for the pessimists. I wonder if maybe they will admit that "maybe" the pandemic is coming under control "just a little bit" even if it is not completely under control.

On another note, main stream media isn't reporting it but Brazillian authorities are saying that the volunteer that died had not been given the vaccine.
