In UKC babbling is babbling before the minute or after is irrelevant

Oh my goodness, in UKC dogs have one minute to babble and they don't have to be struck. I call that the 1 minute babbling rule. Have I been using the wrong terminology? What do y'all call the one minute babbling rule?
I guess that it is kinda like the Stationary rule. UKC only has an "obviously treed" rule. Nowhere does it say anything about a dog being stationary. But everyone calls it the "Stationary" rule.

It depends on how you look at it if you make one drop you got one minute to babble if you make four drops you got four minutes to babble lol.

A dog can be minused at anytime of the hunt if the dog is determined to be babbling the minute has nothing to do with whether or not to minus. The so called "minute babbling rule" may be one of the most misused, misapplied and misunderstood rules they have.

Tar, Richard is still grieving it may take a while for him to get over it. I may need to send some of those brownies for snacks in the winniebago to cheer him up.

I GUESS I,M WRONG ON THAT 4.C EXPLAINS THAT ....BUT WHEN THE H... DO YOU DETERMINE IF A DOG IS BABBLING .. FROM NOW ON I,M STRKING MY DOG .....THATS PLAIN MESSED UP .....IF HES 200YARDS IN THE WOODS AND OPENS HOW CAN YOU TELL IF HES BABBLING ..
BUT IF I TURN MY DOG LOOSE ,,I KNOW IF HE/SHES GOT A TRACK ..AND SO DO ALL THE OTHERS ..BUT I,M GETTING THE STRIKE FROM NOW ON...GOOD LUCK

You just have to hope and pray that the judge that was selected for you is competent enough to make the correct call...Especially when a spot in the final is on the line. I guess that next year I will bring a dog that breaks slow so that dogs don’t bark behind him and he won’t be through the country struck under the minute. Ol Slow and steady 4th and 4th type that’s what I’m gonna start packing that way no one has to worry. Just give me 25 here and 25 there.

Why are some people tying the "one minute rule" to the "babbling rule"?

What is the "one minute rule" for? Isn't it so dogs can babble for one minute and not be penalized? That makes it the "one minute to babble rule".

How many of you have minused a dog for babbling say 3 minutes after cutting loose?

I read on here, if you strike your dog before the minute you better be sure he's got a track. That applies anytime. It has nothing to do with one minute. If you strike him at 55 seconds it's no different than if you strike him at 65 seconds.

Tight mouth

Here's the deal. I have a tight mouth dog and am lucky to get struck for anything but a quarter but he's 100% honest. Say we cut and mine barks 42 seconds in and I strike him then works a track 2-300 yards not saying a word and falls treed more than likely ill take a babbling minus. Another thing is that he absolutely hates other dogs covering and I've noticed that when he opens and dogs come to check him out he shuts his mouth and the next time you hear him he's treed. It's kind of a screwed up deal really. One of those no proof rules...

Since you know this, do you refrain from striking him on that first bark? Now we know why you don't like the rule.

I don’t know a whole lot about this sport. Apparently after Friday night I guess I don’t even know when a dog is running a coon. One thing I’m certain on is that Tyler doesn’t really need advice he is more than capable of handing out lessons. That little tight mouth white dog he’s hauling around is better than most people will ever own, if I had the $$,$$$ it would take to buy him I’d put Demon up and haul him around.
I feel like people get way to worried about a babbling dog. Beating a babbler is pretty simple really you just have to tree more coons than they do. Haul a good one and the rest will sort it’s self out. I like drawing babblers usually when they are running around barking like fools a good dog can be setting through the country with one in a bush.

You definitely don't need my advice. You know a lot more about this than I do. I am sorry, I didn't mean to or realize that I was belittling you. I just see a lot of people that want to change the rules to fit their dog's style of hunting.
