Equipment

I remember going on hunting trips back in my twenties, before tracking equipment was available, we really didn't worry about losing our dogs and we never lost any. Now that I have my Garmin, I won't turn my dogs loose without a tracker. It just brings peace if mind knowing where the dogs are at all times. Dave

And sometimes the tracking equipment isn't enough. I have a pup ready for the woods that I won't release until she's tone trained.

My coat used to be a part of my tracking equipment. I haven't left a dog and gone back to get him the next day since I got my Garmin. Leaving your jacket laying on the ground is a thing of the past. Now it is just part of your clothing.

I am just glad that I can remember them. I don't think that most of the dogs we hunt today could find their way back to where they were turned out. They are too used to us finding them.

That is a fact Richard. I’ve left dogs in the woods prolly a half dozen times in the last 14 years and not once did I find a dog on my coat the next day. When I was a kid I left my coat out a couple times a month and always had a dog the next day.
