Curs in night hunts???

Ive been out of the UKC hunts for years and kinda out of hounds for about 2-3 years. Now that I'm interested in Hunting again I have stumbled upon Stephens curs and love them. Just wandering where UKC stands on letting curs hunt in night hunts against hounds? Anyone tried this lately?

Heath,

Simple fact is that you won't find a pit bull at a pointer event, and they won't allow a beagle in a retriever trial. You can not run a quarter horse in the Kentucky Derby, or a bluetick in a rabbit hunt ...I could go on and on with examples of events that are breed specific...and the UKC Coon Hound Events are one example of them.

As the cur advocate, I'm working on making more coon hunts available to folks that own curs. Your local club can indeed schedule a cur coon hunt concurrent to their hound events....we are working on a better fee schedule to make it more feasible for clubs to be willing to schedule these, but the key is finding enough cur owners that want to coon hunt in the hunts....

Keep plugging away, we are working on it, but I don't see any chance that the curs are going to be able to enter the local hound event on Friday or Saturday night.

UKC won't allow this but you can in NSD, PKC, and NKC.

You forgot ACHA and CHKC, but the fact is that the guys that own cur dogs don't attend the hunts that allow them to......just ask any of the registries that allow it what the number of cur entries in coon hunts is each year.....
