Nobody wins very often with a dog they don't hunt consistently through the week.

Competition hunters train their dogs or get them ready, they don't pleasure hunt.

Kudos to you for ALL that you do to help our sport, and those in need. If we all done as much, things would certainly be better. Hope you continue your work with the kids, maybe some of them will turn out good, and ALL of them will know there are somebody that cares about them. Dave

I hunt for fun, nobody has enough money to pay me to climb these mountains 5~6 nights a week. I would have quit a long time ago, if it was about the money.I would never train dogs for money, shucks, a man could make more money flipping hamburgers at McDonald's. Coonhunting should be a labor of love, not a love for money. Lol. Dave

Dave for most competition hunters it is a love to compete. If they are in it for the money, then they are backing up. They may say that they do it for the money, but the money is just a way of keeping track of how many times they win.

Gamblers will tell you that they do it for the money but how many gamblers actually come out ahead? Ninety-nine per cent of gamblers have to have a job to earn money to pay for their gambling. How many coonhunters do you think have to have a job to earn enough money to pay for their hunting?

True words. I got some hunting buddies that it turns into a nightmare of a hunt even if they treeing coon. I be ready to go home but they still shocking, thrashing, and turning them back loose.
But, they have won the $kc World a couple times, numerous SS final fours and overall winners, state leaders breed leaders and winners. What they do works

IT IS NOT A PLEASURE HUNT

I read some of the POSTS on the other $KC board and they are just as worried about numbers being down , some of them are even afraid they are becoming like UKC and others are talking about the other $$KC , the reality is hunting numbers are down for all hunting and fishing across the USA. A combination of things are at play people's unnatural fear of firearms , being detached from were food actually comes from that animals actually die so we can eat fried chicken and hamburgers etc. And IMHO THIS IS A DANGER to not only our sport , believe it or not our Nation as well. Lets face the facts we need to figure out a way to reach out to suburban middle class kids in jr high and high school along with minorities in the INNER CITY and get these kids involved not only will it help us but help our divided nation on all levels , political , racial , public opinion and National Security. Americans need to relearn to have THICK SKIN AGAIN , We need to bring people into the fold. Our Nation would not be free from Fascism or Communism with out the blood sacrifice of American Men and Women of all races , colors, creeds and religions We need to all bleed RED WHITE AND BLUE , NOT , Pink , Purple and Lime Green. If we allow American Traditions such as hunting to slip through our fingers then all of our traditions will fall one by one and not only will we deserve what happens to us so will America. JMHO, If my Brother Mike Nye is on here please chime in. He and I talked about this many a night while we were deep in the SWAMPS. S/FI
