That's awesome!!
when I get a pup I like to give them a coontail as a toy when they're about 6weeks old, if you don't have one a ball works also , after they "claim" it as their toy, at about 10weeks I like to start with putting coon scent on what ever coontail/toy they like the most and just let them have it and play then start rolling it around let them chace it ,I'll do that for about a week then put scent on a rag/drag and start off small like only run the drag 30-40ft and keep making it a little longer each time ,within a week I lay a drag about 100 yards and if they run it and tree without getting sidetracked lol like most pups like to do, I'll then move them up to a live one in a cage , only let them see it and smell it and most of the time that is when the 'light' turns on and they go nuts lol but I like to build them up more then just that ,kinda put the drive in them by holding them back and letting the first coon they ever got to see and smell and bark at just run away lol then I put them up for the day, that drives them nuts, I try to get two live ones so that night I can let them see me let the other one go and let them run it up a tree but still not let them have it, I ONLY let them see two live coon in a cage and never let them put their mouths on a cage coon , after they got to tree that coon I then run a ton of drags for them and try my best to trick them, after a week or so of doing that they are ready for one to get shot down, that is how I like to start a pup but not only that , the who time all the training was going on I also put them in obedince classes and make sure they have some "free" time / play time no work just play
Happy hunting
