Hunt

Terrible hunt last night. Hunted with a buddy. Carried my nephew and mine and his dog out of Raggs. Took witch. 1st turnout Molly , rickett and witch struck. Went 400 yds rickett and Molly treed slick. Witch went on. Turn loose Molly and rickett again, split tree. Molly pulled to rickett, possum!! Witch still gone. Track her down and she is locating but not treeing. Walk in to tree she starts treeing. Slick. Turn Cotton alone at 10:30. Kept composing back towards us wading around in swamp but not opening. Would not move on so throwed her in box and called it a night. WHEW!!!!

HUNT

Tried to recover from the crappy hunt Monday night. Turned COtton loose alone. She struck in about 125yds. and started bumping around on bad track. Skipped out to about 275 and fell treed on big den sitting in a beaver pond. Turned Drakes Witch gyp and my Dolly female out of GrNtCh Big Time Albert loose. WItch struck a track with Dolly putting in with her. Worked it around hardwoods into a pine thicket and Witch slammed tree, Dolly hit it right with her.They both hammered the tree. Drake was blowing smoke about how he done got 1st and 1st on Dolly. We got in to tree and a big, greasy possum sitting there smiling at us LOL!! Boy I sure was glad he got 1st and 1st. Done me a little ribbing on that one. Turned Cotton loose alone again. Left in a dead run and struck in about 150 yds. Worked a decent track and got it up and going good. Left hardwoods and headed to a big Pine Thicket. 700yds later I had to drive around just got out of truck in time to hear her slam a tree and HAMMER it! Got in there and she was on a big pine tree and ther was Mr. Coon in the top. Somehow we got to squalling and he fell out of the tree right to Cotton. Must have been some slick bark on that pine!!

Glad your hunts are getting better again. Nice size rickey there. Cotton is getting it done. Yep I love to give guys some crap when their dogs get that first and first and the look on their face when a grinner is looking at them. Good times is what it is all about. I hope our snow leaves this week. My dogs are ready to be turned loose.

Rough hunt

Another rough hunt last night. Got a late start. Took Witch, Dolly, and a young male im partners on with a buddy out of GrNtCh PR Big Time Albert. Dolly just went out of heat so didnt want to turn her with the 9mth old male pup(train). Turned Witch and pup loose. Pup and Witch left and pup struck, Witch open few times and got quiet. Train got treed but sounded funny. Been molesting armadillos and I knew he was in ground. Got there and sure enough had a dillar. My buddy said he been whippin him so I ttok my turn. After about 15 minutes my buddy said he just thought he had whipped him!!LOL
Witch came sulking in and we caught her up. Turned out again and they went opposite ways. Witch got deep and next to road so we caught her. Train got deep other way in big swamp. Spent rest of night trying to get him out. Dolly got to ride around in dog box!! The train pup will have the tools if he can got coons on his mind. Has treed a couple. He will leave in a DEAD RUN to go huntin and will go opposite of old dogs and get alone, everytime!!
He is 9mths old and has treed a couple coons alone. Going again tonite!!!

It's all about the training that keeps us going. Kind of like a new car. Once you get it the way you want it you start on another project.
You will have a better hunt tonight. We are starting to get dillers around Columbia now. If my dogs show me one they won't like me very well.
A man has to have those nite champions broke or it could be a long year in the hunts. Last thing I want to loose on is a diller or a possum.

Friday night

Had a fair hunt Friday night. Turned cotton alone. She went bout 350 yds and made a big circle, came in behind us and fell treed. Got to her and she was on a big den. Turned witch and rickett loose. Rickett struck and trailed a little ways fell treed. Possum!! Witch struck opposite direction and rickett went to her. Witch kept locating and we went to her. Slick tree. Turned cotton alone and she went 450yds and just fell treed again. Really hammered tree. Seen coon laid up in fork. Turned cotton loose again and she hunted out good. Follow creek to gravel road. Caught her and called it a night. Had to go to daughters play tonite so me and dogs got a break.

Man it has been raining here all night and still raining. These ole swamps gone be deep. Bottoms will be flooded out. Guess these ole blues will have to swim. May get wet myself!! Oh well thats how it goes.

Hunts

Well we have had a cold snap here in Alabama. 25 degrees this morning. Coons didnt stir too good at my hunting holes the last two nights. Makes for some aggravating hunts. Last night cotton went 300yds and struck a bad track. She did a good job of moving it down the bottom about 700yds. Then she got in a bad beaver slash and could not do anything with it. Swimming water for the most part. Her inexperience showed up last night on that track. Went in and caught her. Turned my Dolly gyp loose alone and a big armadillo came right by us. She came thru and opened on it and I lit her world up with the tritronics. Turned her out again and she went almost 500yds and came out on gravel road without a bark so caught her and went home. Our Train pup out of big time albert got a little training Tues night. Turned a coon loose across big field and waited ten minutes and turned him and the young witch gyp loose.They trailed 200 yds across field and Witch treed it about 25yds into the woods up small tree. Shook him out and train bout caught him on ground. Coon ran up tree right in front of him and he treed really good. Climbed up and knocked him out again and we had some fun and done dogs some good. Got to keep after them!! Good luck to all bluetickers at the hunts this weekend!! Darren

got home from my dull hunt and got rocky out truck he usually follows me down to his house. he had other ideas tonight he throws that head up and GONE, he leaves me yelling and cussing him. goes about 300 yrds with the lead still on him and trees with the coon. glad it worked out the way it did.

Ukc hunt

Myers I hunted Dolly in ukc hunt Friday nite. Had every first tree!! Only problem was two of them were slick. Got minuses on tree that I shouldn't have. She got deep and was in bluffs. Got up there and couldn't hear. Minuses her. Walked up on bluff and she was sitting deep hammering a tree and had meat. Only hunted her 5 times in the last month as she was in heat. Need to get her tuned up an try again.

Hunt

We made 5 trees. One was split. Ole speck that Avery hunts split with coon. He won cast with 125+. There was 3 casts. Glad u got your little girl!! You have to put your priorities in life in order sometimes. That is why I quit for 4 1/2 yrs. spend time coaching these boys. Hollar at me. If u need some help let me know.

Secret weapon Myers. She is wired 440 and could be a little trashy!! She will get a coon treed in a heartbeat when she is right. Gone hunt her for couple weeks and see. Can't tell rite now but you might know her by the name of BB.

UPCOMING CROSS

Well been trying to make this happen for nearly two years now.
Got a female out of Hornet and my old Dual Grand Frostbite leased to raise a litter of pups. Dixie is a coondog from a litter of coondogs. Terry Tibbs Razor male is her brother. Just waiting now for her to come in heat. She is 7 yrs old and is a good blocky headed gyp that was LOUD, Hard Tree dog in her prime.

Elmo I have scoured the south trying to gather up some of my old stuff that has that old Uchtman blood. Finally feel good about what I got coming up. I got a 3 yr old gyp outa grntch big time albert(Albert 3) bred to my 10 1/2 yr old male out of moonshine. Hope she took and has pups. The last I heard about Hammer was my buddy in Steele Alabama hunted him some for guy that bought him from me. He was chewin really bad and was missing some but tree some coons too.
