BAM GOOD PUPS ON THE GROUND!

I just got through talking with my friend Bob Janes of Hannibal, Missouri and he said his Sally female had pups last night. Bob said there was 10-11 pups. There seemed to be an abundance of females, and that they were all Redtick. If you didn't know already, Bob's Sally female is a grandaughter of my old Nite Champion Lakeland's Ruby and Briar Creek Houdini. They produced a Nite Champion son who was bred to a daughter of Briar Creek Zeb to produce Sally. These pups will go back to Junior (Breshear's Blue Boy II) a bunch of times on both sides of the pedigree. Sally is a meat dog that Bob would not have fed her this long if she wasn't a pretty good coon dog. These pups should be naturals with extra good looks, extra loud mouths, naturally straight, and natural stay put tree dogs.

I will give more information as it becomes availible.

Here is from tonights hunt This night was Bam's best night so far and my video camera screwed up I belive Bam struck it from the truck it seemed as he was striking just before I got to turn loose and he was barking me trying to get them un loaded but he shut up as soon as he hit the ground but he bailed out with his nose in the air and belined straight to a set of coon tracks and struck he got first strike and tree. I don't have time tonight to work on any video. But I will see what I have over the weekend. We had 4-6 inches of snow on the ground with frost on top.

Bam will get better the more you hunt him. He wasn't hunted for years. In 30 days, he won't seem like the same dog.

Striking out of the truck is a trait of the line. I don't allow my dogs to bark in the dog box but I have had many dogs out of the same breeding as Bam that could wind a coon track out of a truck going down the road. I have seen it time after time, generation after generation. Bear hunters love this trait and many dogs out of this line have made rig dogs and were the ones to work up a bad track to where the other "pack" dogs could be turned in. Rig and cold trailing dogs are premium to bear hunters. Turn in dogs are a dime a dozen.

There is a difference in barking in the box and striking going down the road. Striking going down the road is a trait in this line of dogs. I have seen it many, many times over many generations of dogs. Some of Ranson's Bam pups will have this trait.

Bam is looking good - best of luck with him!! He was here at our house for several months and we bred him to our female. Those pups are now 15 months old and except for 2 that haven't been given a chance (hate it when you sell a pup and they leave it in the pen), they are all at least started in the woods. None have been pushed hard yet, but we have been extremely pleased with what we have heard on them so far.

This dog is in Bam's mother, Blue Lou, pedigree. He was a great influence.

Here is a video of a great English from the past. His name is Dual Grand Champion Clemons Irish Red Buck.

Buck was another great English out of Dual Grand Champion Clemons Treeing Bam Bam. The thing that seperated him from some of his Grand Nite Champion brothers and sister was his super cold nose and superior tracking abilty. He was great on frozen ground and crusted snow. Buck could consistantly tree coon other top coon dogs could not smell. We reckon he might have got his nose from his paternal grandsire, Bob's Cloumbo, who appeared on both sides of his pedigree. Buck was something special.

I dont like a BOX barker either... Bam has never barked in the box until the other night I feel sure he was striking... Roofus pups Blu and Sue have been striking since they were 7 months old from the box and a rig

Here is a video that features Grand Nite Champion Clemons' Pop Up Daisy, a half sister to Irish Red Buck and also Bam Bam II. Also featured is Nite Champion Lakeland's Red Hot Pepper, who is a half sister to Bam Bam II's mother.

These dogs were split treed and apparently Pepper's coon bailed out and she caught it while we were on the way to the tree. All the time Pepper was fighting the coon, Daisy held her tree with the meat. To me, this tape shows some very impressive dog work, typical of this line of dogs. I got to hunt Pepper and Daisy together alot, they were a real pair of coon dogs.

Here is a video that features dogs out of Timberstar Buddy and Lewis' Thunder Penny. They would be half brothers to Bam Bam II's mother. Bam Bam II is Ranson's Bam's sire. Actually, Thunder Penny was a grand daughter of Dickey's Old Sandy, Bam Bam II's mother was a daughter of Dickey's Old Sandy.

It will be up to guys like Junior Cartright to keep the blood going, I have pretty much retired from raising pups. The only reason Ranson's Bam went to West Virginia was to breed to Roofus' daughters. If Junior puts 100 pups on the ground out of the cross, Ranson's Bam will be on the Reproducer's List like his sire was on the Reproducer's List. And, there will be a bunch of top bear dogs also.

I haven't even scratched the surface of the videos I can and will put up showng this strain of English. The strain was founded on the Timberstar Buddy/Dickey's Old Sandy cross, with alot of Buddy.

Every day I convert an old VHS video I made 25 years ago of dogs out of this strain of English. Boys, I don't just talk about the good old dogs, I have proof of their ability. There is NOT another English breeder (or any other hound breeder) that can do anything but talk. If they started now, it would take them 25 years to catch up. Richard, where are the videos of your dogs?

Junior, you are smart doing it that way. I always made some good video of my stud dogs so folks can see and hear them and then put them up and focussed on my young dogs. No sence risking getting the stud dog killed. It now up to what genes he carries and puts into his pups. I know there are some out of Bam's first litter that are doing well, At least 1 is a Bench Champion and almost a Grand Bench Champion. She is doing well in the woods also. I am looking forward to hearing more about Bam's second litter. I know there are 10 of them and they are all Redtick. Frances Gail and I have not come up with a name for the female we are going to keep. I like the thought of maybe calling her Lakeland's Ruby II after her grandmother. But, Nite Champion Lakeland's Ruby was Frances Gail's dog and she may take over naming the pup.
