Jeff,Congrads looks like the waiting game is over and Wilma had plenty for you !!Keep in mind what we talked about.Good cross Guys this should produce some real quality hounds,We owned Wilma for almost 2yrs and she is the right kind( Quick, Through the country and Alone) She will Grand out we did our share of winning with her in pkc and placing her in the ALLEN SHOE Memorial Hunt,We also have a young male outa Wilma that is showing early signs of ABILITIES, If we didnt own her brother"Grntch Ch Pkc Ch SMOKE" she would still be in our kennel !!! Hunting those old females can be fun! This fall I've been hunting my old Nite Ch Wild Sky female. She's been hunted more nights in the last 2 months than she has in 3 years. Other than a couple of off nights, she's been about 90% accurate for me.
I had her out for a couple hours tonight and she treed a couple of big coon in the snow and treed on another empty den.
My dad started her as a pup and sold her as a young dog. I bought part interest in her as a 4 year old and she's been at my place ever since. My dad never really liked her (the feeling is mutual with me and his dog) because she can be pretty mouthy (no idea where that comes from, most littermates are tight mouthed or silent) and at times can grind on a track too long. This fall she's been finishing her tracks in a hurry and opens just about right and has the meat when you get there. My dad said he's never enjoyed hunting with her as much as he has this fall.
She's been a lot of fun to hunt this fall but I have to admit, hauling a 10 year old dog to the woods that you know inside and out isn't nearly as fun as hunting a nice young hound. I've hunted mainly alone and most those nights I only hunt 3 hours or so unless I'm hunting with someone else.
I've been running my little female off Wild Ox with Dad's Maggie a few nights and she's showing progress each night out but I'm in no hurry. I figure the weather will shut us down soon but I'll focus on her in a couple months. She's shown me enough potential that I don't mind feeding her through the winter.

She is directly out of a dog that is out of Whitey and Wendy a littermate to Casey .And a Dual Gr. directly out of Sackett Jr. She is above average coondog and hunts true to her breeding . I took my 4 year old little girl out hunting with me the other night. It was way too cold to have a youngster out but she wanted to go and I had a short hunt planned. I took out Wild Sky and she got struck on a creek and treed up on a steep side hill. It wasn't too far from the truck but the creek was froze over and it was a pretty tough climb uphill. The creek has some pretty good holes in it that I didn't want to find through the ice by surprise. I told Clara "We're going to have to drive around and walk in from the other side because the creek is froze over". She said "Dad, why don't you just drive across it like in the c'mercials?" Priceless.
