Where Did Performance Pack Go??

Getting back into beagles after about 9 years, what has happened to the PP format? It was booming when we got out last time!

I don't think it's entirely gone........yet........maybe. I don't know the politics behind it as some have claimed UKC is abandoning the program.......I don't know and do not have an opinion on UKC plans going forward. I will say that the PP program had a lot of "bigger name" people involved early on. They traveled well building the program and looked to be growing. I think the biggest thing to hurt PP was it was a program that was accepted regionally more than nationally as with any program starting up rather it be field trials, racing, or whatever. The Mid-Atlantic region of VA, Eastern WV, and MD has/had a fairly good following. It seems to be growing in MO, IL, AR and that part of the country. Ohio looks to be holding hunts still. I could see the Mid-Atlantic firing back up if the support from UKC will be there. I think people are worried about pouring money into a program that may not be here a year or two from now. It's really hard to tell what will happen with the program as I'm sure there are some who are in the know.

At the IL State Hunt last month, we talked with Allen about the future of the program. It needs an association to get more people involved in a manner that reflects regional leadership. At least that’s one of the main solutions being considered. The UKC will continue to support the program with their registry, but it’s going to be up to the beaglers to organize and grow the numbers.
