When you say bred real good, what is the dog out of?
Had it ever been worked with before you got it? How long have you had it?

Dog

I'm guessing your dog is only treeing by sight only, some are bred like that if he won't bark on a squirrel he trees I certainly wouldn't knock anything out to him....no bark no game and I'd move on hunting
