Me Too Dogs

I used to hate to get beat by a me too dog. Now I hate to get beat by a run through the woods barking, hot nosed, deep and alone, bushwack a coon "winner". I got hit by a piece of that falling sky.

Give it 6 months you won’t have to deal with it much in ukc. Ain’t nobody that’s got the miles we got on us likes to lead our dog past coons because we treed a close one.

You will still have to be packing a dog that can tree a coon not dens not slick trees to beat them.
Even the honest strike harder hunting dogs that are accurate will still be in the hunts and still be winning. Especially down in this part of the country.
They still have to tree a coon while walking your dog over a track going to them

It is easy to be accurate when they only tree easy coons that they run up on.

The new rules were well thought out and well planned for these reasons:

1. They knew we are not hatching new hunters on a big scale.

2. They will build their dogs to match the rules.

3. We are loosing hunting areas and because deep and alone takes to much ground to hunt.

4. Closer hunting dogs will bring the older players back that were put on the bench by deep and alone.

5. It will bring hunters over from the other kc.

👍...Over time it makes logical sense that the right rules will indirectly create better hunting dogs as a whole...

The way I see it is I have no control over the other 3 dogs im gona draw in a hunt, so the time a lot put into worrying about those other dogs, (that no amount of worry is gona change), I put that time into my dog.

As I said your dog still has to tree a live eyes shinning coon while walking to the honest strike hard hunting dog. Should be easy enough. U are welcome to come down and hunt land between the lakes with us anytime. That is not a challenge but a serious pleasure hunt for fun. I'm sure our hills the pkc world hunters complained about would be nothing compared to where you live.
Now after Jan 1 with no leash lock I am wondering what the excuses for not beating ole deep and lonely, babbler hotnosed dog will b. After all it will burn hunt time up walking to ole babblers tree so he won't get recast surely these off leash me 2 dogs can make 2 trees with a coon in that time. Lol

I just love your post, they contain so much wisdom for such a young man. I wish that you and I lived closer, it would be a pleasure to hunt with you. I NEVER pay any attention to the other dogs in my cast, the ONLY dog I am focused on is my dog. Just like you stated, no one has any control over what the other dogs do. You should know exactly what your dog is doing at all times and call your dog for what it does. Your success in the hunts speaks for itself and the preparation you spend on your dog/s, that was ALWAYS my way of winning in the competition hunts. Everyone should read and reread your post, take it to heart and live by the message, don't worry about the other dogs, prepare your own dog to do its best. Dave

A lot has changed in the last 10 yrs it no longer is a 4 dog competition hunt it is a grueling marathon or a 2 hr death march. In which the young folks prefer. But 50 and older just don’t think it’s worth it and it ain’t when the next day your using the heat pad , Bayer back and body and muscle rub cream. You can have your dog ready as you want but the rules have allowed that style.

But it’s fixen to be different lol.

Oh my goodness, I have hunted LBL before but it has been awhile. Has it recovered from the big ice storm? What is a "serious" pleasure hunt? My pleasure hunts aren't at all serious. Do you really think that it is a pleasure to hunt LBL?

That taking care of the snacks sounds like a pretty fun job. I might be able to help with that. But when I hunt, if you don't go to the tree then your dog was either slick or was off the tree milling around when I got there.

I've seen a few. But its not as common as many would like everyone to believe it is. And the few I've seen do it all have 1 thing in common. And ill keep it to myself.
