Public hunting areas in northern Ohio or Indiana

What are some good areas with public access that has a lot of acreage? Looking to run some young dogs in some different timber than the flat ground around my house?

Check out Mississinewa Reservoir in north central Indiana. I've hunted it. It's flat and has a lot of timber. Full of coon.

Is there any snakes? We looked into brown county and saw it was full of timber rattlesnakes. Needless to say we didn't go lol

Salamonie

Some friends and I have coon hunted at Salamonie reservoir one time and we treed a few. There is plenty of timber there along with some river bottoms. One thing that is concerning is there are a few highways that run threw the park which if u select your sections those can be avoided. If you go to in.gov/dnr there is all the regulations and I believe that u should be able to find a map of all the state properties that are open to hunting fishing etc. Be sure that if you do hunt at one of them be sure to follow all public property regulations on top of the state regulations. Most places you have to sign in and out and carry a park card while hunting and be sure to not hunt any of the safety zones which are marked on the maps some safety zones are seasonal. I know that J. Edward Roush Lake (Huntington Lake) since becoming a federal park that dog running/training is only allowed in a certain section which is usually indicated at the sign in/out stations.

I wish there were more large public areas up north like they do down south. I would about pick up and move if it weren't for the snakes down there. How do guys summer hunt when the snakes seem to be everywhere. My bucket list of places to hunt have to be Tennessee and the ozarks. I would love to be able to hunt all night and not run out of places to hunt. Where I'm at it seems like everyone is logging out their woods and good places to hunt are becoming few and far between.
