Q&A's - Registered Category and Champion Category

Registered Category and Champion Category:

Dogs that have not earned a NITECH, FCH, or WCH degree are drawn out and will compete in the Registered category. Champions and Grand Champions will draw out together and compete in one category in Nite Hunts, Field Trials and Water Races. This category will further be referred to as the Champions Category.

Note: Any portion of the World Championship (includes RQE’s and Zones) and Youth Events will have all dogs drawn out together, regardless of category. Autumn Oaks is the only event where all three categories will be drawn out separately (Reg, Nite, Grand Nite).

Post your questions here and we'll try to answer them in a timely manner.

I'll answer one that I've seen asked several times.

Will Field Champions and Water Race Champions now be drawn out with Champions and Grands in a Nite Hunt?

No. Not unless the FCH or WCH is also a NITECH.

In a Field Trial, FCH's and GRFCH's will draw out and compete against each other. The same is true for water races.

The criteria to earn a Water Race of Field Trial degree will not change. The only thing that changes is the fact that Champions and Grands will compete in the same/one category.

So the additional titles are only for the hunt then?

Autumn Oaks is the only event where all three categories will be drawn out separately (Reg, Nite, Grand Nite).

Why is this hunt different? If its good enough for the world hunt it ought to work there too, give those little folks a chance to win !

Autumn Oaks is all about Grands. Hence the title National Grand Night Champion. If they didn't seperate the classes and a reg. dog or NITECH dog won there would be no title winner.

So the number of wins needed to make GRFCH or GRWCH isn't changing either?

You're asking the wrong guy. I'm just saying AO is a special hunt for GRNITECH's. It is for a title that only Grands can get. Sure there are probably some registered and NITECH dogs that could win it all... and they could get their shot... after they become GRNITECH.

I guess I dont understand the purpose of combining the ft and wr if they aren't eligible for the extra titles the incentive to haul them isn't there. I realize the hunts are the money maker here but since the trial events are being lumped in I don't see why they shouldn't be able to keep earning titles like the grand notes. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks,
Lee
