I see people getting together having fun treeing some coon. Enjoying and looking forward to the start of coon season. Not down here in FL. They are fair game all year. You can only talk someone into coming and hunt when the water is down, snakes are slowed by our 60 degree winters. LOl and the skeeters are taking a break. Well the equates to never.

So enjoy your Opening Day, your Friends and your Dogs. Me, I have sorry dogs, scared friends and no opening day. The fun is about gone.

Bruce, we don't have a season on coons either, but I sure do welcome cool weather. It slows down the snakes, skeeters, and gators.

It was like that years ago when we had a squirrel season opener in Arkansas in the fall. As a kid I'd look forward to it for weeks. Shot the barrel out of my .22 practicing. Couldn't sleep the night before. There was always a squirrel camp somewhere, and it was still warm but the mornings were beginning to have a hint of a chill. It just seemed like the start of fall, and all the good stuff that came with it. Football, cool weather, deer season and the holidays always seemed within reach once squirrel season came.

Sounds like you need to go and visit your son in tenn..Most folks move from here to retire in florida not to coonhunt so I dont blame your friends

These boys around here or at least most of them never stop killing coons they do it all year round in and out of season , I guess thats what you do when you have sorry dogs or just dont care.One reason I hunt alone and hardly ever carry a gun to shoot coons just one for protection .

We can harvest them year round but I would say that over my life time of hunting the harvest ratio to the number of coon treed has to be a lot lower than most. I guess you could say also that my dogs treeing coon compared to most other guys dogs is pretty low also. But that's a different poll.

Different story here !! You better not get caught shooting one out of season. For me I always try and time it where I have a 1yr old to start during season and that's what I have 9 days I can't have a dog on the government land because of rifle season. Hide season starts December 1rst. I can't wait. I got this pup green started and I am ready woooo weeee he is loud.



Somthing about a pup does it for me. Nothing like it.

Bruce come on up here next year to Indiana for our opening night, it's November the 8th, it'll be a Friday night. Bring a group if you'd like n be part of the action with us. We'll have a blast. We'll be hunting not far from where Autumn Oaks is held.

Yes HOBO it was a cold opening night, we usually have good weather for opening night but this year our number of coon treed was down n our caffeine intake was up lol. We can usually tree in the double digits on our opener.
