Grnitech 'PR' Prairie Creek Blue Big Horn

Horn is now located in Southern Indiana. We would like to first thank Jason and Don Schulte for selling the nice little hound too us. Horn is the kind you like to find, the one that is not for sale. Horn top to bottom has plenty of winners, Roy and Timmy Clifton with the Smoke dog and Misfire that Jason and Don raised and trained. Both done their fair share of winning and their offspring's are doing the same. Horn is only 3 years old so there is a lot of hunting ahead of him.

Made two drops with a pup and Horn last night and went two for two. One nice hot track and one that ran but was not that good of a track, main thing was they had them. Going to bed at 12:30 and get up and 3:30 hard on an old man!

Horn tree along the bank of the Anderson River. It took a good bit to get to him as he was across the river, drove the Ranger around to within 200 plus yards of him and Horn had an old sow that was nervous in a small tree, left it for seed. Yes Terry there is plenty of water!!

Congratulations

Looks like you made another good buy good luck with him. I hunt the liter mate female to horn for two months and as of today I still can’t buy her. She had more Hunt in her as a pup than I seen in most Coon dogs. If I was able to own her today I wouldn’t waste time to go buy her.

Setting it out tonight. Last night we had right at 4 1/2 inches of rain. Screwed up a lot of bottom land and river strips. Seen roads under water I never seen before. Hope the rain holds off tomorrow!

Dang, wish we could have had some more of that rain. Threats and more threats and all we've had was a few light sprinkles. Still bone dry here!

Mike not only having all the rain, it is calling for 79 a high and down to 59, now that is some good hunting for this time of the year. Suppose to be pretty darn nice most of the week, I'm sure the hounds dont mind it!

Took Horn and a young one last night. First dump we cut Rock, hit but could not get it up. Second dump we cut horn, got struck and treed in about 350 yards, had him. Third dump we cut Rock once again and he did not seem to want to get with the program and get in the dark, back to the box. Rock and been hunting real hard so not sure what was up but it sure is not the right way to get loose again! Dumped Horn and he got struck and treed pretty quick and had the second one, Rock got to listen!! Last dump we cut Rock amd he hit and ran but once again did not get it finished, hit up but no tree. Gathered Rock and cut Horn, Horn hit and moved one real good and slammed it, big Oak and did not find it. Young ones try my nerves sometimes way too often and tonight was one of those night.

Horn -

Had a couple gentalmen go with us last night, they wanted to see Horn go by himself. We made 5 trees, seen coons on three trees, one big old den and one we could not shine. Two of the trees with coons were Mulberry trees, slammed both of them. The other with the coon was a big Oak. We really only had one good race. It was hot so we called it a night. Horn really handled the heat good, sure do not have to run to him!

Roy, Don and Jason done a fine job with Horn, he is fun to hunt. Im sure you know they dont last long around here if they do not meet my standards, dont really care how they are breed, at my age I can not stand and idiot, oh never have been able to stand it. Plans are to at least hit the Zone hunt in Sept and Autumn Oaks and more than likley a few others along the way. The little hound has a great personality, did not take very long for the wife to get attached to him, she loves big ol babies! If you get back to your old self would love to hook up with you, Timmy and wild man Charlie W. for a hunt out your way. Charlie likes to big game hunt!

Have some nice pups for sale out of Horns mother, should be some good ones with plenty of drive and tree dogs you can hear. We still have two females and two males not booked. They were two weeks old yesterday.

The Misfire Pups will be three weeks old Thursday and already tearing into the puppy milk replacer. I have a water bowl for them in the box and they hit that pretty hard as well. It is one hot *** so I have two fans going on the pups and Misfire, plenty of cool fresh water, thanks to the wife putting gallon jugs of ice in thier water buckets.

Got wet but had a good hunt with Horn, we made four dumps and made five trees. Seen coons on four out of the five and two of them having kittens, one a big oak could not shine very good so who knows. We had a couple pretty good chases and a couple just rolled up and treed, seemed they had been down earlier. Coons were moving pretty good along the river, wont be long and the corn will help even that much more. When Horn winds and walks on them back legs it wont take long!

Well we got all the paper work done for the Zone hunt and Autumn Oaks. Got our motels booked and and everything done for a while. Nothing like spending money on Blue Dogs. Trying to keep Horn tuned up an in shape. Horn has been looking very good, he does not need anything to take him hunting, guarantee you do not have to run too him and it does not take him long to get hooked, and yes you can sure hear him!

Made two short dumps with Horn last night and was better than expected for getting out early. We made two dumps and made two trees, one litter of kittens but not much of a track. Had one good corn field chase and ended up in a den along the edge. Having good luck hitting tracks by the rivers and seem to be plenty of kittens this year. Horn takes the heat pretty good but had one go down and wont have another. It was still 79 this morning going to work and the high humity makes it feel even hotter yet. That is too hot to push very much, just getting old I guess.

Looks like it is going too cool down for National Redbone Days in Brazil Indiana. Should be a good hunt and is a Purina points hunt. Going to try to make it and see a few friends. All depends on work schedule!!

We took Horn tonight and made three dumps. First dump Horn got in there quick and slammed one coon by a big lake and second dump he treed one litter of coons around a blackberry patch/ clear cut. Third dump Horn ran a track in a corn field and moved pretty darn good but ended up in a den tree. It sure doesn't take Horn long to get treed with the meat!

Horn -
