Why we have the 2nd amendment

I understand there are people who are for guns, and those who are against. If you are against please allow me to tell you a story of my family's history that is of the best of my knowledge that was told me and throughout my research has let me piece some together.
My generation is the first generation born on American soil. My mother was born in Perth Australia, her parents were Ukrainian.
German solders (REAL nazi's) invaded many homes in Ukraine, captured as many as they could under Adolf Hitler's orders. My grand parents were among those captured. They refused to talk about their experiences and when they heard it mentioned they both shut down emotionally. My grand father passed away when I was about 3 years old, he passed after my grand mother, the information I have was given to me by the wonderful people at the holocaust museum in Washington DC and various online websites
My grand mother was listed under "forced labor" (a politically correct term for slave). Most females that were under this category were required to do the cooking and cleaning for the nazis. They were often beaten if food wasn't up to par, places weren't cleaned enough....or if the soldier just felt like it. Yes, having sex with the soliders against their will happened quite frequently. Women would often rub mud on their teeth or find other ways to make themselves less attractive.
My grand father was listed as a prisoner in a nazi jail. Prisoners duties normally included labor which was making door hinges or ammunition for the soldiers weapons, to later be used on them when production wasn't fast enough. Other prisoners duties included traveling to the concentration camps, dragging the bodies out of the gas chambers and throwing them into trenches to be lit on fire. Collecting the shoes from inside the chambers, wedding bands were collected not for their gold value but every wedding band symbolized a destroyed family.
While in their service to the nazis, my grand parents met and when they were finally released their bodies were very close starvation. They got on a ship from Naples Italy heading to Australia because they didn't have enough money to come to America and at the time Australia was in an economic boom, looking for anyone with trade skills (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, etc.).
While Australia had firearms at the time, there was no law guaranteeing them to the citizens. They had 3 children, my mother being the youngest and when she was 5 they all came to America, not to get away from Australia, but to come to America where we have the RIGHT to defend ourselves from a tyrannical government, a right that could not be taken away.
Hitler killed almost 17,000,000 people. Now please believe I don't own a firearm because it's "cool", I don't even hunt. I own because I REFUSE to go on board a crowded train heading towards a concentration camp. I refuse to walk willingly into a gas chamber. I refuse to get on my knees to be executed. I refuse to drag bodies out of chambers to make room for more to walk in.
You may not like firearms, and that is your choice and right. I will simply not allow genocide to happen in this great country. If you think it can't happen here you may not know your history very well.
If I have given any incorrect information please feel free to correct me. The numbers I gathered in this post came from: https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/…/do...numbers-of-vic…
I give permission for this to be shared if someone wants to and if not, I won't be offended
EDIT: I just wanted to be clear, I did not make this post for fame or attention in anyway. I wrote this for those people wanting to disarm Americans to realize just how important the 2nd amendment truly is.

Thanks for sharing.
Many are under the assumption that the 2nd ammendment is there so we can hunt to put food on the table or for protection for ourselves and family when in reality it was established to protect us from tyranny.

2A is definitely for protection against a tyrannical government. But are we not borderline or there now? We have a government full of professional and career liars that approve policies and legislation to provide politics for personal enrichment. They don't have the best interests in the health and prosperity of the citizens and the nation. We see government shutdowns that effect us all in some form or another. We see the soap operas play out almost everyday that grab our attention and really distract from what legislation Washington is approving behind the smokescreen blinding our attention. Some of our most trusted agencies that were intended to provide checks and balances have become just as corrupt as our government.
So when do we as Americans utilize our 2A rights and responsibilities? I personally think we are too fat and happy and just fall in line with the two choices left on election day.

To have SOCIALISM, the citizens of a nation have to be disarmed. Real reason the liberals want gun control. Look at the left, there are really no Democrats left in the party, only Socialists. The real Democrats lost their party many years ago.

Don't believe this? Can anyone on here name ONE candidate from the left that is actually a REAL Democrat?

There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. U.S. population 328,735,259 as of Monday, May 6, 2019. Do the math: 0.000912588% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:

• 65% of those deaths are by suicide which would never be prevented by gun laws

• 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty

• 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons – gun violence

• 3% are accidental discharge deaths

So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many, Right? Well, first, how are those deaths spanned across the nation?

• 480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago

• 344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore

• 333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit

• 119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years)

So, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause.

This leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation, or about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States have much higher rates than others. For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1.

Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far? California, of course, but understand; This is not guns causing this, it’s a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So if all cities and states are not created equally, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths.

Sure, 5,100 deaths per year is horrific…How about in comparison to other deaths? All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime, but that is the nature of crime. Robbery, death, rape, assault all is done by criminals and thinking that criminals will obey laws is ludicrous. Hence the reason they are labeled criminals.

Gun homicides are overwhelmingly tied to gang violence. In fact, a staggering 80% of gun homicides are gang-related. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), gang homicides accounted for roughly 8,900 of 11,100 gun murders in both 2010 and 2011. That means that there were just 2,200 non gang-related firearm murders in both years

But what about other deaths each year?

• 638,169 legal induced abortions in the US (CDC – 2015, nothing more current)

• 40,000+ die from a drug overdose–THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT!

• 36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths

• 34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities (exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide)

• For the last 19 years, from 1999 to 2017, there were 2,467 children killed in fatal accidents involving bicycles, versus 1,994 children killed in fatal accidents involving a firearm. Are we ready to ban bicycles?

Now it gets good:

• 200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. You are safer in the Chicago streets than in Cook County hospital!

• 600,000-plus die each year from cancer.

• 710,000 people die per year from heart disease.

It’s time to stop the double cheeseburgers, and any other ‘bad-for societal good food’! So what’s the point? If our lawmakers and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.). A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides......Simple, easily preventable 10% reductions!

So you have to ask yourself, in the grand scheme of things, why the focus on guns? It's pretty simple:

Taking away guns gives control to governments.

The founders of this nation knew that regardless of the form of government, those in power may become corrupt and seek to rule as the British did by trying to disarm the populace of the colonies. It is not difficult to understand that a disarmed populace is a controlled populace. Thus, the second amendment was proudly and boldly included in the U.S. Constitution. It must be preserved at all costs.

Remember, when it comes to "gun control," the important word is “control," not “gun."

“In his paper titled “How the British Gun Control Program Precipitated the American Revolution,” Kopel claims that various gun control policies by the British following the Boston Tea Party, including a ban on firearm and gunpowder importation, tells us not only the purpose of the Second Amendment, but its relevance within the context of today’s gun control debate.

“The ideology underlying all forms of American resistance to British usurpations and infringements was explicitly premised on the right of self-defense of all inalienable rights,” Kopel writes. “From the self-defense foundation was constructed a political theory in which the people were the masters and government the servant, so that the people have the right to remove a disobedient servant. The philosophy was not novel, but was directly derived from political and legal philosophers such as John Locke, Hugo Grotius, and Edward Coke.”

Kopel writes that two important things underlined the American response to the British policies. One was the practical concept of self-defense, which British disarmament measures was making more difficult. The other, and more relevant concept, was that “Americans made no distinction between self-defense against a lone criminal or against a criminal government.”

Further reductions in violence in America can be attributed to the sheer numbers of citizens exercising their right to bear arms. In October 2019, FBI 2018 Crime in the United States report revealed that Concealed Carry Permit Holders increased again, now 304% more CCWs than in 2007. That means 18.66 MILLION citizens now have a concealed carry permit and represent the largest cross-section of Americans imaginable ---- again, violent crimes continue to go down, almost as if criminals know they just might be on the wrong end of ‘a good guy with a gun’.

Researchers such as Gary Kleck and others estimate that firearms are successfully used for self-defense many more times than most people imagine: "The estimates of the annual number of defensive uses of guns in the United States range from 760,000 to 3.6 million, with the best estimate, derived from the NSDS, being 2.5 million, compared to about a half a million incidents in which offenders used guns to commit a crime (Kleck 1997, pp. 149-160, 187-189; see also the more recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study of Ikeda, Dahlberg, Sacks, Mercy, and Powell 1997, which estimated 1.0 million defensive gun uses linked with burglaries in which the intruder was seen, compared to 0.9 million such incidents derived from the Kleck-Gertz survey, 1995, pp. 184-185, estimates within sampling error of each other)....." Why don’t feckless politicians include statistics that find firearms SAVE peoples’ lives? Because control over the people IS impossible IF the people can defend themselves against the tyranny of Government.

ANY politician or bureaucrat, including judges who would infringe upon our inalienable rights as described under the Constitution and Bill of Rights should be denied public office, and removed from office, if serving, for abdicating their oath to office –

Please feel free to share this information far, wide and often – American citizens deserve to know the truth!

*** Stats were gathered from the FBI’s Crime Database, the CDC’s fatal-injury database, and various search engines…

How the British lost their guns – a historical lesson every freedom-loving American should be familiar with

https://www.wildernessarena.com/sur...erican-familiar

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/650257/posts

How the British lost their guns
It’s imperative that we recognize that British restrictions on firearms did not happen overnight. The gradual loss of gun ownership rights took place over several decades and for various reasons. Unimaginable by most Americans, almost unanimously, the rights were freely relinquished by the people. Here’s how it happened.
British fear of communism – Firearms Act of 1920
The initial restriction on British firearms was pitched as a means to control crime – and it played on citizens fears. In reality, its purpose was a means for the government to control the people. This began a trend that continued for thirty years as the government continued to tighten gun laws and eventually, restrict all offensive weapons, including non-firearm type weapons.
Around 1920, after World War I, the British government feared armed labor unions could steer the country towards communism. There was much working class unrest during this period and communism was spreading throughout the hemisphere. However, the threat of a Bolshevik revolution in the UK proved unfounded as history shows the Soviet Union found it necessary to spend all its energy gaining full control of its own people rather than exporting revolution. Regardless, as a result of Parliament’s fears, they introduced the Firearms Act of 1920 as a means to control potentially unruly citizens.
Under the guise of crime control, the act required the registration of all handguns and rifles (a seemingly innocuous cataloging of gun owners but a system that can easily be used to track and confiscate all citizen firearms). The Act also limited the amount of ammunition a holder could buy or possess and required that the buyer provide a valid reason for purchasing a gun.
The changes to firearm laws were not minor tweaks to existing law. Brits had long held the right to own guns. Their 1689 Bill of Rights guaranteed “the right of individuals to bear arms”, but with an added condition – “as allowed by the law”. As a result, the 1920 Act made the constitutional right to own firearms conditional upon the judgment of government officials. In effect, the Brits lost their right to own firearms with the single stroke of a pen.
Americans introduce firearm restrictions – the British follow suit
America’s 1934 Gun Control Act outlawed fully-automatic weapons and short-barreled shotguns and influenced the Brits who implemented similar changes to their law. American law was based on the explosion of organized crime that accompanied prohibition. Britain however, had no prohibition in place. Once again, unfounded fears prompted changes in Britain’s gun laws.
The 1937 Firearms Act modified the 1920 Act to include some common sense requirements. For instance, the minimum age to buy firearms was raised from 14 to 17. But it also implemented further restrictions on a citizen’s right to bear arms.In addition to extending controls on short-barreled shotguns and outlawing fully automatic weapons (British politicians called them “gangster guns”), self-defense was no longer an acceptable reason for applying for a firearm certificate. For those who owned machine guns or World War I trophy guns, if they followed the law and legally registered their firearms, they were required to turn in their guns to the government.

Rarely talked about – Gun ownership and how the Brits almost lost their country
Oddly, and rarely talked about, British losing their guns did not come without consequences. After the fall of France in 1940, Britain’s laissez faire attitude towards firearms routed them into a dire predicament. They found themselves with no firearms with which to protect themselves. Embarrassingly, soldiers unfamiliar with real firearms were required to drill with umbrellas, canes, and sticks. Americans, with a strong gun culture in place, stepped in to assist. In November 1940, the American Committee for the Defense of British Homes placed advertisements in United States newspapers and in magazines such as American Rifleman asking readers to
“Send A Gun to Defend a British Home–British civilians, faced with threat of invasion, desperately need arms for the defense of their homes.”
As a result of these ads, pro-Allied organizations in the United States collected weapons, with assistance from the National Rifle Association, and shipped 7,000 guns to Britain. Winston Churchill wrote in Their Finest Hour:
“When the ships from America approached our shores with their priceless arms, special trains were waiting in all the ports to receive their cargoes. The Home Guard in every county, in every town, in every village, sat up all through the night to receive them …. By the end of July we were an armed nation … a lot of our men and some women now had weapons in their hands.”

MUST READ

To see original ad plea for guns
and copy from
https://www.americanrifleman.org/ar...a-british-home/

This advertisement was published in American Rifleman, November 1940

In 1940, 75 years ago, the British stood alone against Hitler’s war machine. From May 27 through June 4, the British evacuated more than 300,000 troops from France in the face of the advancing German Blitzkreig. It was called the “Miracle of Dunkirk," but while the soliders were able to fight another day, they left much of the equipment—especially arms—on the beach. The American Committee for the Defense of British Homes ran this notice in the November 1940 American Rifleman.

Due to policies of civilian disarmament, the British people were stripped of their guns by their own government policies, arms needed to defend themselves against potential Nazi invasion. Individual American responded to the call, but most of the guns were never returned. One rifle, however, due to reasons that you can read in this article, did indeed come back to the United States.

HOW SOON WE FORGET THE LESSONS OF HISTORY!!!!!
How many people even know this ever happened?
It has been lost like lots of other history that gun grabbing "RATS" don't want us to know.
