The pups are getting their blue ticking! One female colored up like her Aunt Mainstreet Witch. Two big males will be mostly white with a few black spots like their grandsire Mainstreet Jack.

Monday night hunt

Cut Bluspeck and daughter Rae loose behind the house they struck within seconds and treed within a minute. Looked at coon number one. Cut a few yards away they struck and treed quick again in plain site was coon number two only 100 yards from the first coon. Turned loose drop number three they struck and treed only about 50 yards away nice big coon number three. Home within an hour. We are ready for kill season. Rae is really coming on now cant wait to knock her down a few. I also need a new camera haulin mine around the woods the last five years I got the lens all scratched up makes my pics look foggy!!

Sunday Night... last run before season starts,,

Rained all day and misting tonight took Rae and Bluspeck for a run, figured this will be the last training run before season starts up the 25th when we can knock some out to the pup. Dogs got deep all three runs. Put first coon up a big Hemlock right behind someones house! Saw the coon comin into the tree. Pup was treein good with ole Blu. Second run took us up a creek a long ways dogs settled on a real big maple den. Third drop dogs ran up another creek and had Mr. coon up a big red Oak. Just as we got home the rain started up it was a good hunt!

Opening Night

Well we gave iy our best shot last night and the weather wasnt kind. 25 mile wind rain, snow and hail! A lot of washed out tracks and dogs worked hard. First tree was in a large hemlock and try as I might I couldnt get eyes. Glasses kept clouding up in the rain and snow I finally gathered dogs and left. Second track the dogs worked quite aways South and heard Bluspeck locate. It was a large tree full of grapevines connected to several other trees. Im sure ole mr coon had been feeding there but he wasnt their now, I feel the scent held under the vines on the tree and coon could have come down anywhere but this tree was surely empty. Dropped again and listened and no sound for quite awhile. Got tracker out dogs were long ways to the west. Walked quarter of a mile heard them treeing way off. Way out in a hegerow across two very wet goldenrod fields. Dogs had a nice sow treed in a cherry. Got a few pics that are blurry from the rain and steam coming off dogs. Shot coon out and headed to the truck as rain was really coming down. Almost back to the truck dogs threw heads up and located, cut em loose and treed withing 50 yrds a nice boar coon up in a popalar tree. This was about an 18 - 19 lb coon. Called it a nite went home to dry off and warm up LOL! The dogs got scrambled eggs in their feed for their effort!

Great stores Doug!! Man I love those pics also. That big boar was pretty nice, 18-19 lbs is a nice coon in our area. I'll bet Ole Bluespeck loved those scrambled eggs, LOL. Sounds like the weather was a bit miserable but the hunt was pretty successful. Good Luck with the rest of the season!!!

We still have to wait two more weeks here before the harvest starts. I took Holly & Jaz last night and couldn't keep them within 800 yards of each other, lol. Seemed like all I got done was walk, walk, walk!!

Sunday Night Hunt

Well the weather was so much better tonight than the opener Friday. Was a crisp clear still 38 degree night with a hint of frost in the air. Loaded up ole Bluespeck and his young daughter Speckled Rae and headed up to the big dairy farm on Lemly road.Pulled down into the cut corn field aways off the road and cut dogs. Not into the woods more than 15 seconds the dogs hit a hot one. Less than a minute treed!

The tree was still half full of leaves but found the coon way in the top.

Cut dogs and they took another track South and treed. Had coon #2
[

Made several more drops dogs made 5 singles, two dens and one tangle of grape vines I couldnt see a coon.

All in all a great fun nite dogs hunted hard. Had a pleasant suprise one big female was a silver colored coon with a very light undersides and almost white tail.

Here back home I turned the silver female on her side so you could see how light she was. May have to get her tanned to go with my blond coon.

A beautiful woods full of big mature maples, oaks and beech, Loaded with grape vines, and a couple nice streams.The coon are hitting the grapes hard. Have to come back here another time before season over as we didnt even touch the other acres of woods

You might consider selling me Rae that should go along way towards a new 3 or 4 hundred dollar camera! Just punching ya a little! Great pictures of fine looking hounds. Good luck during your hunting season.
