My pup has bumps on her neck from the collar . Has any one had issues? I am not putting it on to tight I've always done the 4 finger method when adjusting collars . But she has 2 Bumps where it looks like the prongs have irritated her skin .

I think pups skin are just thin and sensitive.

I have a 7-year-old female blue tick that can't wear a collar. Her neck gets raw and smelly where the rivets and buckle touch her skin. I only put her collar on when I take her hunting.

I have had similar issues. I would recommend putting Vaseline or antibiotic ointment so they don't get infected One of my dogs had to get one surgically removed as it formed a cyst. To help it heal quicker It helps if all collars are removed. Good luck, and i hope There healed up soon!

thanks for the input guys. I did squeeze on it today ( I know I probably should have lefted it alone) and some puss did come out. been putting vasoline on it twice a day . I will get some antibiotic cream and see if that helps as well. Doesn't seem to bother her. Beginning to wonder if it was from the shock collar or not it could have just popped up on its own.

If the bumps are from the prongs irritating the skin…this should heal with triple antibiotic ointment…
CutHeal smells like a mixture of turpentine and fish oil…but it works like nothing else…spray a little on twice a day and there won’t be a scar in 2 or 3 weeks…

You can find CutHeal at TSC or most any feed store…

I think it's other issues not the prongs .. I've been putting antibiotic cream on it twice a day and happy jacks liquid bandage on it I going to have to put her in a kennel and take the collar off and see if it will heal . I've got her on a zip line and I don't think it's able to heal correctly with wearing a collar

I had a hound ( in fact the 2nd one) that had a problem with dayglo collars.. the kind with the plastic coating over nylon....
big nasty sores with infection.. did not take long to happen.

used vetricyn to clean the mess and then put NFZ powder on the cleaned skin. it took about 2 weeks to completely heal.. I then put a Leather collar on them and had no further problems.. you might fond the cost of a good leather collar rather seep but believe me it is worth it.
