The bluetick breed going to die out...

I had a conversation with a bluetick man the other day. One of the points he tried to make to me, unless we start producing blueticks that win in the elimination type hunts the bluetick breed will die out. Because the younger generation is the next hunters and that's what they want. I responded that I'd have to think on that one for a while.is it possible for a bluedogs to win the world hunt? He ain't yet. But the Chief's won the Superbowl so yeah anything is possible. But if a bluedog doesn't win big will that be the end of the breed? I put this question on the stud page because it concerns breeding. I'm interested in others opinions on the matter. What do we need to do to keep the blueticks alive? Is winning in the big hunts the only way they will survive? Is picking up our organizations, growing and promoting them the only way? Is holding fast to what a bluetick should be, the only way? Or something else, or all of this, or is none of it going to matter because, it's a sport that is dying out anyways?

The bluetick breed

is not going to die out what needs done is to have more blue dogs entered into the hunts. heck that's what the other breeds want and are hoping the bluetick's die out lessons the competition.

I think as more bluetick pups get SS it will help. Young guys like to enter more money hunts than most of the guys my age do. Get those stud dogs PKC SS. At least that would be a start.

Dogs

The entire sport is pretty much dead other than Major hunts and pkc without pkc money hunts there would be very little dog market it many places the fur market is nothing, pleasure hunters are only so many . The good ole days are over most states half the coon clubs have shut down just hunt what you like who cares what someone else has as long as you like yours

The breed wonít die out. Bluedogs would win the world if more owners tried to push there dogs in it. Most of the time thereís 15-20 bluedogs in the top 100. We need more in it.

Why are the numbers of Blueticks able to qualify for elimination style hunts so sparse? Is it because theyíre not entered? If so, why arenít more entered?

Is it because the ones entered arenít good enough to qualify by winning to advance? If so, why arenít they good enough?

Arenít the rules to qualify the exact same for all breeds? Arenít the odds to win a cast and advance the exact same for any dog, regardless of breed?

Some claim to know what style of Bluetick is required to win elimination style hunts but never enter any elimination hunts. Doesnít that make any sense?

Blueticks die out? Maybe in regard to being entered in elimination style hunts?

Only one way to find out

I consider myself a younger man almost 33 yrs old,I dont think it will die out.ive tried several breeds and stick with blue dog because their wat suits me but have owned walkers and a English hound.i cant stand the temperament of most walkers they drive me crazy in the kennel or at the house,so high strung bouncing off the dam kennels running thru their mess.yes I have owned a Walker that wasnt like that and some blue dogs can be like that.i like drive in a hound but they have to have brains. I dont see the breed going away and believe there could have been a bluetick win the world hunt but they have to show up and put the work in.

The numbers game would help the cause but that is not the reason a bluetick has ever won. From history that I have heard there has been a couple of times that it could/should have already happened. Here is something that I did awhile back.

There are 26 letters in the alphabet.

I wrote each letter on a piece of paper then pulled 3 letters out at a time.

That represented an 11.5% percentage.

I then tried to find a year, since the UKC World Hunts started, that the last name of the owner of the winning dog started with one of those 3 letters.

After several tries, using different randomly drawn letters, every time I could find an owner whose last name started with one of those three letters.

Not winning one time over 30 years would be like saying that a person who's last name that started with C for instant couldn't win the World Hunt because there weren't enough owners entering with their last name starting with C. Now it would be harder for that to happen since the percentage would be considerable lower than 11.5% but it could happen and would definitely be related to the dogs ability, the handlers ability, and the breaks needed just like any other dog that is entered.

Ladies & Gentlemen, throw those numbers & percentages out the window & answer the above. If the answer is yes, which I believe the odds are 99.999% it is, what gives?
