Steve Bankston

Thanks for sharing your story, we all need a little inspiration at times, you Sir, have given me much needed inspiration. I am 70 years old and these steep mountains are really tough hunting, I have gotten out of shape and that makes it really hard to climb up and down these mountains. I have hunted less this year than anytime I can remember. I have no health issues, it's just letting my being out of shape and getting to lazy to push myself hard enough to get in shape that has slowed my hunting down. I feel ashamed of myself when I hear of someone like yourself that has health issues still going every chance they get. Steve, I WILL get into shape and hunt like I was used to hunting, thanks to you. Dave

I have no idea what makes coon hunting great. I've been doing it for about 58 years and still get excited when going to a treed dog. Especially a pup or young dog. I'm on about my fifth or sixth "last pup". And if I'm able next year, I'll probably start another one. My hearing and eyesight aren't what they once were, but with the help of an Alpha and an ATV, I might make 10 more years. LOL. Well, I'm only 75 years old.

Hunting

I hunted with my dad when I was 5 years old I’m now 67 dads gone and most of his friends I hunted with now with my age and many acres we used to hunt lost I just don’t have enough coons, energy and land to train a young dog and a good old dog is scarce as hens teeth but would still be enjoyable with a decent dog

Steve,Tom,Vic,Bruce and Dave id love to get to meet all of you and several of these other Ol coonhunters on here one day and go turn some hounds loose. Maybe one day we can all meet up at Autumn Oaks and have a big time pleasure hunt, I got good easy hunting all around there.

Whether that happens or not, just know a lot of us younger coonhunters get that grit and motivation from watching and listening to you ol coonhunters whether you know it or not.

I would enjoy hunting with you and those guys. Appreciate the kind remarks about us old guys. Likewise, I am very happy to see a young man like yourself, you make me proud. You are winning your share of hunts and doing so in a manner that makes all of us proud of you. Coon hunting is an addiction, but a good one. Dave
