Hoosier outlaw

I know I donít belong on the redbone thread. But to add to yalls thread. Some things that adds to the older guys not competing like they used to.

1. The expense of the distance required to attend major hunts. And gas and food.

2. The high entry when you get there. And lodging.

3. Most of us get paid once a month.

4. Most of the major players have an unlimited expense account to keep re entering till they get in.

5. Sometimes we just ainít in the mood or have things to do with the grandkids or family.

Not making excuses just the way it is lol. Back in the day we was happy beating 60 dogs for a trophy.

Hogwash. The reason the old guys don't compete as much is because they are old.

You guys are old so you should be retired and have a lot of money... especially after all those good dogs everyone used to have right along with those big hunt numbers!

I'm an old guy, the reason I don't compete, is I don't think I've got a hound that is competitive. These hunt times are getting less and less, as soon as they get a fifteen minute hunt, I'll be all over it.

Back in the pioneer days, on Sundays when families went visiting, they would walk up to the cabin and throw a rock on the roof to announce their presence and the folks inside would yell out the window " who's syeer?".

Completely unrelated but priceless and I'm going to tell it anyway. I remember years ago when we were introduced to a coonhunters new wife... she was a keeper lol. His new wife was in the house and he wanted us to meet her. He told us if he threw 1 rock at the trailer she brought out 1 beer if he threw 2 she brought out 2, I'm thinking there is no woman that is going to do that, Wrong! Sure enough he picked up 2 rocks from the yard and threw them at the trailer house and out came an attractive woman carrying 2 beers. The yard had very little grass but plenty of rocks, redneck collectibles, chickens, dogs and a hog pen on the side. They are still married idk if all these years later if she still fetches beer lol.
